Long post-for those who enjoy reading 😉
Fence sat on this for a looonnggg time.
January often brings forward concepts of new beginnings. It can be motivational and inspiring for some and completely out of alignment for others. We are all beautifully different 🩷
I’m not really a personal subscriber to the idea of “transformations” BUT I am a firm believer of life “transitions”.
The idea that we are constantly evolving and we have little idea where it will take us, is very real.
So, I share my past 10ish year timeline.
It began with a very unforeseen difficult time in my life personally.
From there, the shift began.
Leaned into my tendency towards self-directed reading, research, applying concepts and freely experimenting.
Learned about metabolism, energy needs/expenditures, individual variances, macro/micro nutrients, fact vs fiction nutritional notions and began employing physical training principals-for fun 🤣
Kicked up my home cooking game (I’ve always loved food of all kinds and preparing delicious meals) and just kept on going.
I did not assign myself a diet. I had zero thought to a specific weight loss goal. I just kept learning and applying.
Slowly. Consistently. Kindly.
My body mass and composition did change over time, as a BYPRODUCT of my desire to learn, actively challenge myself in ways that brought me enjoyment and, in my case, little to no expectation.
Movement is my jam. Nutrition is multi-layered and can be both fairly basic and also more complex, depending on a myriad of factors.
Our mindset is key. Rest and gratitude are imperative.
Our health and physical fitness will fluctuate over our lifetimes-that is a guarantee. When in doubt, always add grace.
Our life is, hopefully 🤞, a long game.
Changes take time.
Sometimes, like 10 years?!! lol 🤷♀️
So what began as a tricky time in my life turned out to be a just another opportunity for transition.
This morning, I’m getting ready to head off to teach. I’m extremely grateful for this time in my life 😌
When I joke around in my movement classes about how we are gonna be trying something new and “fun”, you have to know that I really do see it that way 😁
It’s never too late to build something new.
