📢 CDCP Reminder for Our Patients

You may have recently received an email from our office about the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP).

👉 If you are not eligible or this doesn’t apply to you, please feel free to disregard it.

We sent this out as a courtesy to all patients to help make sure everyone is aware of:
✔️ How to renew their coverage
✔️ How to apply if eligible
✔️ Important deadlines to avoid losing benefits

If you are currently enrolled, remember that CDCP is not automatically renewed—you must complete your renewal by June 1 to avoid a lapse in coverage.

If you’re not enrolled but may qualify (no private dental insurance and household income under $90,000), applications will reopen June 2.

As always, if you have questions or need help navigating your coverage, our team is here to help!

We’re a little fashionably late 😅💜 but we still couldn’t miss National Dental Hygienists Week (April 4–10)!

This Canadian celebration, led by the CDHA, recognizes the important role dental hygienists play in preventing disease, promoting oral health, and helping Canadians understand the connection between oral health and overall health 🦷✨

Thank you to our amazing hygiene team for everything you do every day!

Check out why regular Dental Cleanings are so important! ✨ — keep reading…

Think plaque is harmless? Over time it hardens into tartar (calculus), and once it forms, only a professional cleaning can safely remove it.

🦷 Dental Cleaning:
✔️ Removes plaque and tartar buildup
✔️ Helps prevent cavities and gum disease
✔️ Leaves your teeth feeling smooth and fresh
✔️ Supports long-term oral health
✔️ Helps interrupt buildup before it leads to bigger issues

🦷 We recommend most adults come in every 6 months to stay ahead of buildup and keep your gums and teeth healthy.

🦷 Why gums may bleed during or after a cleaning:
If you notice a bit of bleeding in the “after” photo, this is actually very common — and usually a sign of existing gum inflammation (gingivitis). When plaque and tartar build up along the gumline, the gums become irritated, swollen, and more sensitive. As that buildup is removed during a cleaning, the tissue can temporarily bleed because it was already inflamed — not because the cleaning caused harm.

The good news: with regular cleanings and good home care, gum inflammation typically improves and bleeding reduces over time.

🦷 Skipping cleanings can lead to:
⚠️ Gum inflammation (gingivitis)
⚠️ Bad breath
⚠️ Tartar buildup that can’t be removed at home
⚠️ Bone loss around teeth if left untreated

Regular hygiene visits are one of the easiest ways to protect your smile and prevent bigger dental problems down the road.
