Sometimes I can’t even believe how I got to where I did in a log. From start to finish looking at it now it just exhausts me to remember the work that was put into it. Can you believe that is the same log? Now you can see the true height and size. The bar I have on my saw is 36”, and it barely made it through

Presenting the 2026 Bread and Roses Gala sculpture for the mhwomensshelter.

Finding peace

This piece represents finding yourself after leaving an abusive relationship. The moment you catch yourself freely, laughing, finally from inside, finding you again after what seems to be forever. The words of your abuser getting quieter and less every day. Like the monarch butterfly symbolizes, transformation, strength, resilience, and rebirth. Their trip will be filled with beautiful days, gorgeous flowers, but there will still be storms. Be patient with yourself when this happens and remember how far you already made it along your journey. An amazing life is ahead.
