Lorne Hiebert, a family member of one of our residents has asked us to share this post for him….
In April of this year the Saskatchewan government increased the Private Care Home allowance by $1000 per month.
What an amazing difference maker to our seniors in need of private care!
Initially we just put this in the bank but I started to question if this was the right thing to do.
Was this the intent of the increase?
Does my brother need additional income?
As long as we have enough for his final arrangements and there is enough in the bank for any emergency we're fine.
So we decided to give half of the $1,000 to Central Pine Care Home and our monthly lodging payment is now $2,500 per month and we say thank you for all that they do.
We can still put $500 into savings each month. We're happy and so is the very deserving care home.
If you're in charge of your loved one's finances maybe you will consider doing the same if your circumstances allow.
We already entrust them with the care of our loved one. I trust them to do the right thing with the extra income.
Respectfully,
Lorne Hiebert
