Done 🥳🥳🥳
Lots of emotion as I clicked my Samsung Health app "Finish" for my last walk of my 75 Hard Challenge. 😭😭
I then totally ugly cried when I walked upstairs abd saw my husband after my 75th 45-minute walk in a row😭😭😭. I then called my forever friend and accountability partner, Alanna Wold, in Vancouver and ugly cried again telling her I couldn't have done it without her.
She was the person I sent my daily weigh in, progress photo, 45 minute indoor workout exercises, picture (Samsung Health) of my 45-outdoor workout which was a walk or golf, and many days what I ate, drank(amount of water) and read. She cheered me on daily even when the scale would fluctuate day to day. FYI so many things affect weight and most of them are temporary water retention or building muscle. It was like a science experiment for me🧐
Was I perfect, nope, except on the exercise and no alcohol . I learned that a gallon of water every day made for bad sleep🤣 So when I brought that down to between 80 - 100oz and to consume that before 9 pm, that provided better sleep😁
My meal plan was gluten free. There were a couple mishaps here.🙈 One was accidental when I made Szavay Kraft Dinner and subconsciously just spooned a mouthful into my mouth cause that is just what one does right after you stir in the powdered cheese 🤣 It was so good I took another scoop🙈. Then after a round of golf, we decided to go to Local. I planned to have the LPE salad but once there, after walking the Dunes for 18 holes, I told myself I deserved the amazing Shrimp Dumplings😋
Did you know Cheeto cheese puffs are gluten free😮 oh and Lay's sour cream and onion🤣 There are also rice chips that are gluten free. These were my treats during this 75 days and I would indulge in a bag every 2 to 3 weeks. I believe that's what made it possible for me to keep going for 75 days. Restrictive eating is difficult but 80/20 is much more realistic and successful.
I am currently 88 days alcohol free as I hadn't had a drink a couple weeks before I started 75 Hard which is no alcohol. I am planning to go back to drinking socially or out for dinner. I'm actually looking forward to a nice bottle of wine. I'm very grateful to my husband Bruce McIntosh who also abstained for over 3 months to support my challenge 🩷🩷🩷
I had been reading 6 pages a day most days before I started 75 Hard but the challenge was 10 pages a day. This was good out of the gate. I finished one book then started another. However, I was not consistent everyday. I read fairly slow and it would take me 30 minutes to read 10 pages. I tried to read some in the morning and some in the evening but that didn't always happen. I did my best.😘
I prioritized the exercise and eating healthy into my schedule. I will tell you if you work 40 hours a week this challenge would be double hard. You would definitely have to get 1 of your 2 45-minute workouts in before work and one after work.
I also added in some other habits as I did this challenge. I made my bed every day which I didn't do before. I added in counter pushups and squats every day when I made my protein coffee late. ( message if you want the recipe). I listened to a podcast on mental health, fitness, nutrition, productivity, or exercise everyday I walked. I have learned so much. I also made sure I got in 10,000 or more steps every day.
I wasn't perfect in every task of the challenge but I was very consistent and never gave up. I'm super proud of this major accomplishment and after 75 days, these activities have become habits that I have learned to love. I love starting my day with weight training or a HIIT workout or yoga. I love going for my after dinner walk this time of year. Before the time change, I was doing it in the afternoon. I love creating amazing salads and nutritious meals. I feel stronger and healthier and I know it's important as we age.
Challenging ourselves is one of our 9 Emotional Needs but that's another post🩷
Thank you to everyone who has inspired, supported and cheered me on during this challenge. It has meant the world to me.😘😘🩷🩷💜💜
