With Neurodivergent Celebration Week coming up on Monday, we thought it would be a good time to share a bit about how occupational therapy, counselling, vocational rehabilitation, and kinesiology can provide neurodivergent support!
Occupational Therapy:
OTs help neurodivergent individuals build strategies for everyday life. This might include creating sensory-friendly routines, developing executive functioning skills for school or work, or adapting environments to reduce overwhelm and support independence.
Counselling:
Counsellors support neurodivergent individuals in understanding their experiences, building self-esteem, and developing emotional regulation strategies. Counselling can also help individuals navigate masking, burnout, relationships, and identity.
Vocational Rehabilitation:
Vocational rehabilitation specialists help neurodivergent individuals find and maintain meaningful employment. This can include workplace accommodations, job coaching, building communication strategies, and advocating for supportive work environments.
Kinesiology:
Kinesiologists support physical health and wellbeing through movement. They may help individuals build body awareness, improve coordination and strength, and create exercise routines that support regulation, focus, and overall wellbeing.
