The BCRS 2026 Spring General Meeting will be held on May 22–23, 2026. We’re thrilled to welcome you to beautiful Victoria, BC at the Grand Pacific Hotel for a weekend of connection, collaboration, and continuing education.

Join us Friday evening, May 22, for a casual welcome reception. On Saturday, May 23, we’ll dive into a full agenda featuring Section 3-accredited CME, member hour discussion with a focus on key issues, and presentations from government stakeholders. Based on your feedback, we’re also inviting our vendor partners to present on AI and its growing impact in clinical practice.

We’re proud to share the new Environmental Sustainability in Radiology Playbook, a national resource designed to help medical imaging teams reduce their environmental impact while maintaining high-quality care.

The Environmental Sustainability in Radiology playbook is intended for all medical imaging professionals and teams in order to:

• Discuss greenhouse gas emissions and waste arising from medical imaging.

• Define and describe mitigation and adaption opportunities in radiology in Canada.

• Explore strategies for low carbon, high quality medical imaging with estimated impacts.

Inspired by the Canadian Association of Radiologists’ Statement on Environmental Sustainability, this guide supports a healthier planet—and a more resilient healthcare system.

BCRS President, Dr. Brenda Farnquist met with MLAs Gavin Dew, Kristina Loewen and Macklin McCall and MP Dan Albas to discuss the crisis in Medical Imaging in BC.

“The demand [for medical imaging] is outweighing what we can actually perform,” Dr. Farnquist said.
“We’ve got so many system inefficiencies; we run with five different health authorities and everyone has a different system ... We still use fax machines and letters to book appointments in this health authority and it’s not acceptable.”

Dr. Brenda Farnquist (BCRS President) and Ken Ostertag (BCRS CEO) had a very productive meeting with the Minister of Health, Josie Osborne, in her office at the BC Legislature in Victoria on April 7. Senior Ministry executives responsible for medical imaging were also in attendance.
