Motorcycle Safety Month in B.C.
Small choices can make a big difference on the road:
• Wear protective gear and choose bright or high‑visibility colours
• Keep your headlights on at all times
• Choose your lane position so you’re easier to see
Motorcycles can be harder to spot, especially in traffic. Riding visibly helps others notice you sooner.

Did You Know? 🚧

A new temporary traffic signal is being introduced at 4th Avenue and Seymour Street to help manage traffic as construction vehicles exit the Kamloops Centre for the Arts site.

👉 When activated, the signal timing will allow construction vehicles to safely clear the intersection reducing confusion and improving safety for all motorists.

The City’s Transportation team will be on site during peak hours to ensure everything is running smoothly.

Type II helmets are gaining momentum across the construction industry, and not through regulation, but through employer action.

As of July 1, 2026, members of the Canadian Construction Safety Council (CCSC) will require the use of CSA or ANSI-certified Type II helmets with integrated, manufacturer-approved four-point chin straps for their workers, trade partners, and site visitors.

Why the shift? Unlike Type I helmets, which are designed to protect from impacts to the top of the head only, Type II helmets are designed to reduce force from impacts to the front, back, sides, and top of the head. Research continues to show they offer stronger protection and can help reduce the risk of serious head injuries on the job.
