Workplace connection matters.

Nearly 1 in 5 people in Canada report feeling lonely often or always. During CMHA Mental Health Week, we are reminded that small moments of connection can make a meaningful difference in someone’s day.

A simple check-in, an invitation for a break, or a brief conversation can help people feel supported, reduce stress, and improve well-being.

This week, we encourage everyone to try one small action:
1. Check in with a colleague.
2. Invite someone for a break.
3. Start a simple conversation.

Connection does not have to be complicated. Sometimes, it starts with one small moment.

During National Volunteer Week, we’ve been thinking about the small moments that don’t always get noticed but mean everything here at the clubhouse.

Like the volunteer who remembers how someone takes their coffee. The one who sits a little longer when a conversation needs it. The ones who quietly set things up, clean things up, and make sure no one feels out of place walking through the door.

That kind of care doesn’t show up in reports, but it shapes this space every day.

To our volunteers: what you do matters in ways that are hard to measure, but easy to feel. Thank you for being part of what makes the clubhouse what it is.

What a beautiful morning filled with hope, love, and kindness 💛

A heartfelt thank you to Shari Finlay, Board President of CMHA Kamloops, and the amazing group from BCLC for crafting Hearts of Hope for our Clubhouse members.

We also loved decorating cupcakes together this morning with our wonderful community volunteer, Shirley — such a sweet way to bring everyone together!

Moments like these remind us that hope grows when we share it. Through small acts of love and kindness, we strengthen connection, lift each other up, and build a community where everyone belongs.

We are proud to be part of this important step forward for housing and community wellbeing in Kamloops.

These 55 modular homes at 1453 McGill Road represent safety, stability, and dignity for people who have experienced homelessness. With 24/7 staffing and on-site supports, the project reflects what works, housing paired with care.

We are grateful to BC Housing and all partners involved for their collaboration and shared commitment to solutions that strengthen both residents and the surrounding community. This is what it looks like when we come together with purpose.
