Here are some ways to keep your lymphatic system healthy:

• Exercise

Physical activity stimulates your lymphatic system and helps move fluid through your body. This can help prevent infections and other diseases. Swimming is especially helpful because of the water's pressure.

• Maintain a healthy weight

Obesity can damage your lymphatic system and make you more likely to experience lymphedema.

• Stay hydrated

Drinking plenty of water helps lymph move throughout your body.

• Eat an anti-inflammatory diet

A nutrient-dense diet with lots of antioxidants can help your lymphatic system work better. Avoid common allergens, low-quality animal products, refined vegetable oils, and processed foods.

• Avoid toxic chemicals

Chemicals from pesticides or cleaning products can build up in your system and make it harder for your body to filter waste.

• Try lymphatic drainage massage

This can be a valuable part of your care plan if you have persistent swelling. You can also try dry brushing, which involves moving a brush in circular motions starting at your extremities and working your way toward your trunk.
