CTE Awareness Day 💚
January 30 marks CTE Awareness Day, a day dedicated to educating the public on the causes and impact of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE,) and a day that drives the mission of the Ty Pozzobon Foundation.
A progressive, neurodegenerative disease, CTE is linked to repeated brain trauma and can only be diagnosed post-mortem. While this disease masks behind normality physically, the impact mentally to those living with CTE is significant.
A disease typically found in football players and other contact sport athletes, Ty unfortunately was diagnosed with the first known case of CTE in a rodeo athlete following his passing in January of 2017. Ty’s friends and family came together shortly after this diagnosis to create the Ty Pozzobon Foundation - a not-for-profit rooted in its mission to spread awareness on the importance of athletes protecting their brains and breaking the stigma around mental health.
