Calving season is here! We wanted to share some information on calf scours that is great for everyone to be aware of. The most important thing to remember is that some of the viruses and bacteria that cause scours are zoonotic - meaning they can be transferred from animals to humans! This means we need to take extra precautions when handling scour cases. Make sure you are washing your hands often while avoiding touching your face or hair when handling these calves. If you think you have a case of calf scours and are unable to manage it at home, then please call the clinic and we will get you seen as soon as possible.

Hauling in the snow can be unavoidable at times - here are some things you can do to make sure you are staying safe!

- Clear off as much snow and ice as possible off of the the top of your truck and trailer. when snow and ice fly off the top of your truck and trailer, not only can it spook your horses - it can also cause an accident for any drivers behind you.

- Make sure to clear off all of your lights as well, to ensure that others on the road can see you and can anticipate your next move.

- Although our instinct it to close the trailer off form all of the elements, we have to ensure proper ventilation in the trailer to avoid overheating your horse.

- Don't feel pressured by other drivers. Your safety, and the safety of your horses is far more important.

Stay safe on the roads this winter! ❄
