It’s totally in our human nature 🧬to get excited about new things and be all in and do all the things at the beginning…

Then when things aren’t shiny and new anymore, we tend to let it slide, fall to the wayside, and feel de-motivated and revert back to old patterns and habits.

Which makes sense if our brains have been wired that way for a long time right?

And realizing that is KEY to moving through this challenging time, because that’s the difference between giving up and persevering.

Imagine your child, or your loved one, giving up on their health or their goal…

🤔Would you tell them “ya, give up on yourself”!

No. You wouldn’t.

You’d probably you give them some TOUGH LOVE…

Because you care about them and want them to succeed in reaching their full potential, am I right? ✨

That’s what it’s like when I talk to myself, and how I coach my clients. I don’t let us off the hook 🪝 and it’s a fine nuanced balance of push to the edge, balance with life’s demands, and modifying while treating ourselves with kindness AND still moving forward.

Ideally we warm up before all runs (and physical activities) and the best way to do that is mobilizing all your joints 👉🏼including the 50+ joints that are in your spine!

But if you’re really crunched for time, your easy long zone 2 run will less likely result in injury without a warmup versus an intense short speedy interval or fast paced run.

So the answer is, when moving into high intensity training like bursts of speed (think sports too like soccer and basketball) a warm up is non-negotiable.

I am a physiotherapist with 12+ years experience and I see injuries all the time that could be avoided with a good warm up.

We tend to sit all day for work and then drive to our activities (let’s say, your soccer game) and jog around the field, maybe stretch the quads a bit, then dive into the game.

That’s not quite enough warm up.

Neither is going from sitting at work to slapping on running shoes and heading out the door for a quick 5km.

It may feel like a “waste of time” but a solid 10-15min warm up will save you time. Time saved from injury, setbacks, aches and pains, and frustration when you can’t do the things you love.

🫶🏼Yoga throughout my years of practice and teaching has become not only a physical benefit but a deep understanding and connection to myself - down to my core (literally and figuratively).

💪🏼My 12+ years of physiotherapy has shown me how the human body is incredible at healing itself - with the right set of tools implemented.

🏃🏻‍♀️My experience with training for marathons and overcoming injuries and coming back stronger and faster proves to me that age really is just a number. I used to think I had peaked in my 20s and 30s. I was afraid of aging. I was wrong. And it is a story I have learned to let go of.

Jokes aside, this is something that is a real struggle for all of us moms.

⏰Time
⚡️Energy

We have SO many hats to wear, such limited time and energy (and often financial resources) that it can feel overwhelming and impossible to do it all.

And that’s true, actually. We cannot do it all.

That’s why having a coach is so helpful and SAVES us a ton of time, energy, and actually saves us money as well.

Because you could spend lots of time and energy doing the research (all the answers are on Google and YouTube and all the AI out there these days) - your time and energy translates to $$$.
