Meet Dixie who is a Registered Social Service Worker and Psychotherapist! Dixie is accepting new clients for in person and virtual therapy.

As a psychotherapist, she works with adults and children (ages 2+) as well as offering family therapy. Dixie has over 12 years of experience working with children, and has helped the City of Toronto create a program supporting youth who have experienced loss. Dixie’s extensive experience in the field has given her a profound understanding of the unique emotional, behavioural and developmental needs of children.

Her experience also allows her to work with and support families with challenges across diverse backgrounds. With adults, Dixie uses Music Therapy and Sand Tray therapy to support clients in processing difficult emotions and trauma. Dixie also uses Art Therapy, Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT).

When Dixie isn’t working she enjoys writing short films and composing instrumental music for each scene.

Meet Magdi who is a Registered Psychotherapist with 20+ years of experience! Magdi is accepting new clients for in person and virtual therapy.

As a psychotherapist, he works with adults and teens (ages 10+), as well as offering couple’s therapy and family therapy. Magdi is able to offer services in both English and Arabic. Magdi is passionate about helping clients work through Depression, OCD, Phobias and PTSD, in a structured way that allows them to find solutions for their struggles.

Magdi received his Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from the Aligarh Muslim University in India and has experience working at the Royal Ottawa, Ottawa Community Immigrant Services Organization, United Nations Khartoum-Sudan and as a lecturer at two different universities. When Magdi isn’t working, he enjoys fishing and reading.

Here is a great example of regular check-ins that couples can have with each other. This helps with communication, feelings of closeness and for each partner to feel heard. This can also prevent conflict from building up over time.
