✨ Celebrating the Conclusion of the Play4Good Internship – Summer 2025

This summer, we had the pleasure of hosting and working closely with three talented interns from the College of Computing and Information Technology at the Arab Academy for Science and Technology in Alexandria, Egypt, as part of VRapeutic’s Play4Good initiative.

Over the past five weeks, these brilliant students have:

🧩 Explored corner cases and realized test cases in immersive VR environments

🌐 Earlier today, VRapeutic had the privilege of being represented at a UN-backed panel on "Bridging the Digital Divide: Virtual Worlds and Digital Twins in the Global South."

Our founder, Dr. Ahmad Al-Kabbany, joined experts from across sectors to reflect on how immersive technologies can promote inclusion, empower communities, and shape more equitable futures.

🎤 During the three discussion rounds, Dr. Ahmad shared:

Bridging the digital divide is not about technology for its own sake. At VRapeutic, we adapt deep-tech solutions like VR rehabilitation to local cultural, linguistic, and infrastructural realities—while training professionals and communities to contribute back to global science.

We learned that presenting raw data to therapists doesn’t work—clinical insights must be delivered in familiar formats. We also shared how overlooking cultural adaptation once led us to redesign entire modules. Localization is not optional—it’s essential.

Since inception, VRapeutic has been committed to supporting research in the field of immersive technologies, especially in the healthcare sector. This commitment has taken several forms including supervision of graduation projects, partnership with research-centered educational initiatives, and providing several research groups with VR development resources.

We are glad to see the 3rd research article employing VRapeutic's products published in such a prestigious journal. This is the result of a tedious amount of work by the stellar team who was working on this study--Moshira Abdalla, Heba Hassan, Nourhan Sharaf, and Sara Ahmed. VRapeutic's team had done a good amount of work facilitating the mission of this group of promising researchers, and we are glad it paid off.
