Road Trips Are Fun, Back Pain Isn’t
Whether you’re cruising to cottage country, heading for the Rockies, or tackling the Trans-Canada highway one Timmies stop at a time, there’s just something about a good ol’ Canadian road trip.
While that 2000’s playlist is epic, your spine might not be feeling the same way. Stiff neck? Achy lower back? Tight hips? Your seat may not be the only one that needs adjusting!
Here’s the good news: your body doesn’t have to pay the price for your love of the open road!
A few posture-friendly tweaks and mid-trip stretches like the ones shared here, can make the difference between “Are we there yet?” and “I feel great, let’s keep going!”
Pop in before, after, or before AND after your trip for an appointment, it’s the kind of pit stop your spine will thank you for.

Pec Stretch:
Place your arm so that it is horizontal, with your palm touching the surface.
Rotate yourself slightly away from the car, while keeping your hand firmly planted.
(Try not to rotate your shoulder forward as you rotate your torso). Hold for 30 seconds and repeat on the other side. This can be repeated with the arm slightly higher or lower to target different areas of tension.
Hamstring stretch:
Extend one leg out in front of you onto the edge of the car. Keeping your back straight and hips squarely facing the car, bend slightly at the hips to bring your chest toward your thigh. Hold for 30 seconds and repeat on the other side.
For a more intense stretch, you can bend the supporting knee slightly.
