Rainy days call for a hot cup of coffee, big sweaters, and a good read ☕️📚

Days like today provide the perfect opportunity to learn some self-soothing strategies.

What is self-soothing? It’s a way of comforting, nurturing, and being kind to yourself.

What soothes you? Maybe it’s listening to the rain? Or the smell of your favourite candle? Or the soft touch of a fuzzy blanket?

Cultivate some curiosity today so that next time you’re feeling emotionally overwhelmed, you will know exactly what you can do to bring a sense of calm to your mind and body.❣️

Self-acceptance 🧩 Defined as the ability to unconditionally value all parts of yourself. This has been a common discussion point in my sessions this week. The COVID pandemic has not only highlighted our strengths, but it has also exposed our deepest fears and insecurities. Self-acceptance is more than just acknowledging that you have strengths and weaknesses, but rather learning to truly accept yourself just the way you are.

During this stressful and unprecedented time, many of us have become more vulnerable to catastrophic thinking. But our thoughts can easily create a distorted view of reality. Learn to question your internal dialogue and you’ll be able to regulate your emotions more effectively.

During times of uncertainty, it is understandable that many of us feel an increased level of concern around protecting the health and safety of ourselves, our families and communities.

To meet the challenges of the new behavioural and social changes, and prevent the spread of the virus, I am going to be offering telepsychology services (i.e. telephone and videoconferencing sessions). Please see my website for more information.
