How much protein is going to help with muscle building and body decomposition you ask?

This very scientific guide is a good place to start.

All jokes aside, this is a common question that comes up.

Many people are undernourished when it comes to protein, and it’s a major factor when understanding the difficulty of struggling to lose weight while always feeling hungry.

This is why we have a largely OVERFED and MALNOURISHED population.

If you want to know where you’re at, track all your food for 1 week and get an average daily protein intake.

At a minimum, you should be aiming for that 1.2g protein/kg of body weight - but the best way to get results is to work with someone who can help with meal planning and accountability.

Stop underestimating the effect of your lifestyle on your chronic pain.

Not sleeping for 7+ hours a night?
Eating inflammatory foods and a low protein diet?
Constantly stressed out and distracted by life (and social media)?

I can go on and on.

But the point is this: if you are spending the time and money on treatment to fix your injuries and chronic pain, you have the time and resources to improve your lifestyle.

I get A LOT of patients coming to see me who are confused by all the information online about nutrition.

So I’m here just muddying the waters even further.

KIDDING.

I wanted to share this image because it’s the best guide I’ve found (compliments of ) that simplifies what you should be targeting in your nutrition.

Hit these 5 targets on a consistent basis and you are likely 90% of the way there.

If you’re looking for structure and a plan on how to achieve your goals through nutrition, book a consult at the link in the bio to get started, or book a complimentary meet and greet to find out more.

🩸PRP VS Prolotherapy 💉

Almost everyday I get asked by patients about the difference between PRP and Prolotherapy - so I made a quick summary of the two treatments.

What you need to know is that the research differs depending on what condition is being treated, however in general it appears PRP is a stronger treatment than Dextrose Prolotherapy, meaning fewer treatments are needed.

There are other factors that come in to play when making a decision on which option is better for you - so if you’re wondering if either of these could be a solution to your pain or instability, book a discovery call with me to learn more.

At we tailor your regenerative therapy program to fit your specific needs and goals.

All Systems Go 🚀 - On To Muscle Health

Your ability to build and maintain skeletal muscle is far more important that most people recognize.

Building muscle isn’t just a way to make yourself look and feel better, it’s absolutely necessary if we want to slow down the effects of aging.

Building up your skeletal muscle mass takes time, it takes discipline, and it isn’t always fun. But that applies to all the best things in life. Often what you need to get started is someone in your corner who can hold you accountable and provide you the tools to maximize the return on your exercise investment and avoid potential injury.

If you’ve ever thought about making a change, the best time is now.

Platelet-Rich Plasma - here we go!! 💉

I’m so excited to now be offering ultrasound-guided PRP treatments here in Kelowna, BC.

What is PRP?

PRP is a concentrated blood product that delivers a high concentration of your own platelets into a site of injury. The treatment involves a blood draw, after which we spin your blood and isolate the platelet-rich layer.

What does PRP do?

PRP is a regenerative injection therapy. This means that it is a tool used to promote healing of damaged tissues by stimulating the release of different growth factors at the site of injury. PRP has gained a lot of attention, especially given it’s widespread use by professional athletes to speed their recovery time and strengthen the tissue to reduce future injury risk.

What is PRP used for?

I use PRP to treat chronic injuries and chronic pain. There are cosmetic uses for PRP, but that’s not where I come in.

PRP has shown to be effective in osteoarthritis, rotator cuff injuries, ankle sprains, tennis elbow, low back pain, Achilles tendon injuries, and more.

If you want to find out more, stay tuned for more updates, or book a complimentary consult to see if PRP might be right for you.

ALL SYSTEMS GO 🧠

I came up with this idea a while back after consistently getting ask the question, ‘What can I do to better support my ____?’

It’s been inconsistent putting these together, but it’s been useful to me to put in perspective what are the baseline conditions for proper health.

Sure, there are many supplements, herbs, and medications that can improve cognitive function - but in my opinion, if you aren’t doing these 5 things at a minimum, everything else is wasting your time and money.

If you don’t know where to start or how to implement change, or you’re already doing a good job in all these areas and are looking for new ways to advance your cognitive health, send me a DM, or book a meet and greet appointment to talk one on one.

How should we be looking to get our nutrients - orally or from IVs?

It is ALWAYS preferable to get your essential building blocks in oral forms (preferably from minimally processed whole foods) when possible.

But this isn’t always possible for everyone, and when it isn’t, oral supplements and IV vitamin infusions are useful tools. But they cannot replace and mask a crap diet…sorry 🤷🏻‍♂️

When you have a diet that excludes certain types of foods, or are dealing with chronic digestive issues like heartburn or loose stool, there’s a good chance you’re under serving your body’s needs due to poor absorption, and that’s where IVs really come in handy.

It’s important to use IVs with a purpose in mind. IVs can deliver nutrients directly to the bloodstream when your gut isn’t doing it’s job properly, or you’re not offering it the right nutrients in the first place.

So yes, IVs are very helpful depending on what they’re being used for, and you can feel awesome after getting them…

But routine IV vitamin therapy (with all the Bs, Cs, minerals, and amino acids) is not a long-term solution to a sh*tty diet and even sh*ttier stool (I had to go there).

ALL SYSTEMS GO 🚀

It’s been a minute since I last shared one of these, but it’s as good a time as any to talk about the immune system - despite the fact everyone is doing it.

Your chances of getting sick and rundown are much greater in the winter. Our sun exposure is next to nothing, and the spread of different bugs is ramped up.

If you feel yourself starting to get rundown, this can be an early detection sign that an infection is on the way, and your immune system needs some help.

Numerous vitamins, minerals, and other fun compounds like medicinal mushrooms have proven immune-modulating effects when taken at the right dose, and ensuring good nutrition, hydration, and sleep are also critical in maximizing the strength and resilience of your immune system. Number 6 that didn’t make it onto the list is IV therapy - this is a cheat code for getting high dose vitamins and minerals straight to the bloodstream.
