"I didn’t like the idea of being completely reliant on my glasses. Without them, I couldn’t drive and could barely read. I was annoyed not knowing if I was picking up shampoo or body wash in the shower, and during physical activity, my sweat would always slide my glasses down. I wanted to wait for laser eye surgery until my prescription was somewhat stable and give me time to save up. My optometrist recommended Vivid if I ever wanted LASIK, and I loved that it was close by so I didn’t have to drive to Vancouver. I can go ziplining without worrying about my helmet bumping my glasses, or go to the hot springs and actually see the clock. If you’re on the fence, just know that they play music you like during surgery, I picked Avril Lavigne. The only downside is that the surgery isn’t long enough to get through three full songs! 🤣 The communication with the Vivid team was phenomenal. Alicia was so quick to respond to every single question I had, and I had a LOT. She was very patient and understanding, even when my questions felt silly in hindsight. "I was tired of foggy glasses, messing with contacts with dry uncomfortable eyes and dragging sunglasses and regular glasses around for prescription. One of my friends had laser eye surgery and convinced me to look into it. The recommendation from other doctors was the biggest factor to go to Vivid. I wasn't sure about the recovery but to my amazement, 24 hours later I had better than 20/20 vision and was able to drive home! My vision is amazingly crisp, I can see things on distant ridges that I was not able to see before, even with glasses. “I ended up going ahead with laser eye surgery because I had heard from others that it was 100% worth it. Being a student up until a couple of years ago, I didn't have spare cash. But I actually think it's quite reasonably priced and cheaper than I initially thought. Also, discovering that it’s considered an eligible medical expense by the CRA was nice. A lot of the things I enjoy doing such as running, hiking, playing hockey and other sports, and going to the gym I couldn’t do well, while wearing glasses so I had to do them blind. Being able to see during these activities has been a great improvement, and I’m very excited for winter when I’ll get to go snowboarding and actually be able to see. Any doubts I had were settled by Vivid, and it made me feel even more confident about moving forward. Their communication was incredible. All of my questions were answered very well, whether it was about the procedure, risk, recovery, or any little detail. Everyone was extremely nice.
