Each year, September 30 marks Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
The day honours the Survivors of Residential Schools, the children who never returned home, as well as the families and communities who have been impacted.
It is an opportunity to reflect upon our country’s tragic and painful history and recognize the ongoing inter-generational trauma, including violence towards Indigenous women, children and two-spirit+ people.
There are many events scheduled in communities across Canada. The Rutland Medical Pharmacy team encourage you to not just approach this as a holiday, but participate in an event and some learning about the truths of the Indigenous People of our nation.
If you are unable to attend in person, spend some time at home watching and reflecting on some of this programming. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/national-day-for-truth-reconciliation-2025-cbc-programming-1.7642059
