Rutland Medical Pharmacy will be open tomorrow for our many incredible customers. Due to Remembrance Day, we will only be open our holiday hours of 10-3 however.

We are thankful for all of our clients and great community of Rutland and Kelowna. We are thankful that you give us the opportunity to walk with you in improving your health and wellness.

Each year, September 30 marks Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

The day honours the Survivors of Residential Schools, the children who never returned home, as well as the families and communities who have been impacted.

It is an opportunity to reflect upon our country’s tragic and painful history and recognize the ongoing inter-generational trauma, including violence towards Indigenous women, children and two-spirit+ people.

There are many events scheduled in communities across Canada. The Rutland Medical Pharmacy team encourage you to not just approach this as a holiday, but participate in an event and some learning about the truths of the Indigenous People of our nation.

The team at Rutland Medical Pharmacy want to acknowledge National Indigenous Peoples Day.

This is such an important day for all of us to reflect on the contributions Indigenous People across Canada make to all Canadians. We can all learn and benefit from the ways of knowing and living of the First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples across Canada.

More importantly, on this day we must be reminded to learn about the purposeful harms that colonization has caused. The harms that Indigenous people continue to experience, and how we all have the duty to be part of the solution. Let’s all make it a priority to be part of the solution not just on this day, but every day. To be good medicine for all.

Congratulations to Brad Adams, pharmacy manager at Save-On Pharmacy in Vernon on winning a new practitioner award from the BC Pharmacy Association.

I felt honoured to be recognized and awarded with the Murray Dykeman mentorship award for something I am passionate about. Helping the next generation of pharmacists learn about being "good medicine" and putting people first in their practices.
