Hey everyone! I am once again participating in and collecting donations for Motionball Marathon of Sport in support of Special Olympics Canada. Donations go towards providing sport programs, coaching, equipment, and competition for Special Olympics Athletes across Canada. Without these donations, these programs essentially would not be able to run!

If you're interested in supporting the cause, donations can be made directly through this link: https://marathonofsport.com/sponsor/?r=40799

Thank you!

Marathon of Sport is motionball's nationwide flagship event, raising money in support of the Special Olympics Canada Foundation.

Nice to see this come through the literature.

When the hip does not move, the spine labors double. For example, limited hip extension results in lumbar spine hyperextension and an increase in spinal facet joint loading due to premature coupling. Patients who undergo hip surgery show significant improvement in concomitant lower back problems, an...

"Posterior-Chain Resistance Training Compared to General Exercise and Walking Programmes for the Treatment of Chronic Low Back Pain in the General Population: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis"
----
Key Points:
- Posterior chain resistance training is more effective in reducing pain and disability and improving muscle strength in patients with chronic low back pain than general exercise.

- Posterior chain resistance training does not have significantly more adverse events than general exercise in patients with chronic low back pain.

- Clinicians should strongly consider the prescription of 12–16 weeks of posterior chain resistance training to maximize outcomes in their patients with chronic low back pain.

Background While chronic exercise training has been demonstrated to be an effective non-pharmacological treatment for chronic low back pain (CLBP), there has been a relative lack of evidence or clinical guidelines for whether a posterior chain resistance training programme provides any benefits over...

I see “persistent pain” in the clinic constantly. The primary goal is to start with quality patient education. The content of these conversations need to include and touch on these three themes:
——————
Theme 1: Pain does not mean the body is damaged.
——————
Theme 2: Thoughts, emotions and experiences affect pain; pain is multi factorial.
——————
Theme 3: I can retrain my overprotective pain system.

Aerobic exercise (AE) demonstrated an overall medium treatment effect in anxiety disorders (AD) but there is evidence for an “intensity-response” relationship. High intensity interval training (HIIT) was highly effective on a range of (mental) health parameters.
----
"Highlights:
• Aerobic exercise (AE) is effective in the treatment of anxiety disorders.
• Studies point to an “intensity-response” relationship of AE in these conditions.
• This RCT investigated high intensity interval training (HIIT) in GAD.
• HIIT was highly effective in reducing symptom severity and comorbid depression.
• This type of training may supplement first-line treatment approaches in GAD."
