The Bridge Youth & Family Services

The Bridge Youth & Family Services Founded in 1969, The Bridge offers support to youth & families in the Okanagan community. We embrace the Okanagan community with two distinct arms of service.

We work preventatively with new parents and their infants, we support families with various programs and we provide detox and recovery programs to youth and adults. Since inception, we have focused on community and families by working preventatively with new parents and their infants, counselling families who are struggling with their role, and working on behalf of the Ministry of Children and Family Development with young people in our community who are the most marginalized, street entrenched and disenfranchised. Our other arm of service includes our recovery and addictions programs. The Bridge is the largest provider of substance use services for the Interior Health Authority, we provide Supported Recovery Housing, Intensive Live-In Youth & Adult Treatment, community-based naloxone training, Outreach Overdose Prevention, and Withdrawal Management – detox – for both young people and adults. You are not alone, and we are here to help. Please note, we have a few different locations for our programs and services:

Administration Offices:
#8-2604 Enterprise Way

Bridgeway Adult Live-In Treatment:
265 Gray Road. Withdrawal Management Services and Supported Recovery Program:
760 Hwy 33 West

Youth Outreach Programs:

-Orange Shirt Day Drop-In
Between 1 PM and 4 PM, stop by 1580 Bernard Avenue for a welcoming space to honour survivors, reflect on the past, and join conversations on anti-racism and anti-bullying for the year ahead.

We had an amazing time on our recent Mural Art Walk, led by Karen, Uptown Rutland Business Association (URBA) Executive Director, and Tammy, URBA summer student!

Along the way, we discovered fascinating stories about the talented artists behind each piece and learned so many interesting facts about their creative process. We visited 10 stunning murals in total—each one a unique and beautiful work of art that adds colour and character to our community. 💛💙

A huge thank you to Karen and Tammy for sharing their knowledge and passion, and to all the artists whose creativity makes our city shine!

The fourth week of September marks Gender Equality Week—a time to reflect on the progress we’ve made, celebrate the achievements of women and gender-diverse people, and reaffirm our commitment to building a future where everyone has equal opportunity to thrive.

Created through Bill C-309, the Gender Equality Week Act (2018), this week reminds us that while important strides have been made, persistent gender gaps continue to hold too many back. Together, we can break barriers, challenge inequities, and create a Canada where every person—regardless of gender—can reach their full potential.

Let’s keep moving forward. 💜✨

This past August, The Bridge was proud to take part in two powerful community events to honour International Overdose Awareness Month and raise awareness about prevention, education, and support.

👉 August 29 – Westbank First Nation Drive-Thru BBQ
We joined WFN for their free community BBQ, where burgers, hot dogs, and pop were served alongside overdose awareness swag, baseball caps, and prize draw tickets.

👉 August 31 – Kerry Park
Our Outreach Team shared overdose education and offered free naloxone training, while also highlighting the programs, services, and resources The Bridge provides to support youth, individuals, and families.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, connected, and showed support. Together, we are breaking down stigma, building awareness, and saving lives. 💜

Huge thanks to Shane & Johnny from our Outreach team for hosting our booth, and to John for stopping by to connect with our amazing partners.

Our Story

The Bridge: we transform lives and build community.

The vision and mission of The Bridge Youth & Family Services Society will be achieved by embracing the following core values which guide our work: Acknowledgment of Our People: We value people as our most important resource and work to ensure our employees and volunteers are adequately trained, supported, and rewarded. We work to find a healthy balance between individual and organizational goals. Community Collaboration: We cooperate and form partnerships with other agencies, governments and businesses, for the purpose of providing quality service for those who are supported by The Bridge. We openly and freely share information and resources that will enhance the lives of individuals within the communities we serve, and increase the capacity of the communities in which they live. Excellence and Innovation: We embed continuous quality improvement systems as a cornerstone of our organizational culture and our work. We implement ongoing measures of effectiveness and efficiency, explore the most current research in related fields, and work to meet or exceed the most current standards of programs and services associated with accreditation and best practices in the field. We subscribe to a code of ethics to further ensure accountability. Honour and Respect: We recognize and support the fundamental rights of the individuals we serve, those who work for the organization, and our volunteers. We regularly seek feedback on the experience of those we interact with and take actions to remediate concerns or complaints in a timely and transparent manner. We believe services that are voluntary, involve the program participant, and are the least intrusive in the shortest period of time demonstrate the respect to which we aspire. Inclusive: We strive to provide equitable and accessible services to all, overcoming and reducing barriers wherever possible. As a culturally competent and diverse organization, we model respect for gender identity, sexual orientation, spiritual practices, ethnicity, age, ability, socio economic status, language, and culture. Leadership: We believe we have a responsibility to provide leadership in advancing conversations and progressive social policy change on behalf of those we support and the broader community in which we offer our services. Strength Based: The Bridge recognizes the inherent strength and value in each person with whom we work and believe that everyone, regardless of circumstance, requires opportunity to grow, connect, and be supported. We strive to ensure that all individuals who access the services of The Bridge, feel respected and valued. Sustainable: We operate with a focus on both corporate and individual responsibility to support sustainability: social, environmental, and fiscal. We are responsible stewards of the resources we are entrusted with and conform to our legal, moral and fiduciary responsibilities.
