“I thought my vacation was ruined — until I met Candace.”

My name is Brad from London, Ontario. On a recent trip to Nova Scotia to visit my son, I encountered some unexpected trouble with my hearing aids. I had accidentally packed the wrong filters and with no immediate fix in sight, I feared my vacation would be marred by communication struggles and frustration.

Desperate, I searched online and found the nearest Connect Hearing location in Kentville. When I called, I was warmly greeted by Customer Care Representative Candace Hatt, who instantly put my mind at ease. She assured me she could help, so we made the drive.

From the moment my wife and I walked in, we were treated like family. Candace not only solved the problem but also provided me with more than enough filters to ensure the rest of my trip was stress-free.

If you’ve ever winced at the sound of clinking dishes, a barking dog, or even someone laughing nearby, you might be dealing with hyperacusis—a fancy word for sound sensitivity.

Here are a few quick things to know:

1️⃣ It’s not “just in your head.” Your ears and brain are reacting differently to sound.
2️⃣ Everyday noises like a vacuum cleaner can feel really uncomfortable.
3️⃣ It can happen after loud noise exposure, ear injuries, infections, or certain health conditions.
4️⃣ There’s help! Sound therapy, gentle exposure, and CBT can make a big difference.
