Stepping Stones Counselling Group

Stepping Stones Counselling Group Therapeutic services for children, youth and families. Therapists, Counsellors, Behaviour Consultan

The Stepping Stones environment is a home-like setting situated in the heart of beautiful downtown Kelowna. Our team is dedicated to providing a nurturing, creative and flexible healing environment for children, adolescents, adults, and families. Our offices have been designed with warmth and comfort in mind that help put everyone at ease - especially children. Separate play, art, and sandtray rooms have been created as tools in the healing and exploration process. One of the ways we work towards the healing process is by making every effort possible to ensure that the client is matched with someone they will feel comfortable with and receptive to from the start. We take into consideration a therapist who might have a special focus area or training for the presenting issue, age of the client, treatment preference, and insurance requirements, just to name a few. Also, we have the opportunity to work together and collaborate in situations where multiple family members are being seen by different therapists at our center. This can help to facilitate family or marital conflicts to a healthy resolution.

Who Can Benefit?
Art psychotherapy is used for people of all ages and is especially helpful for:
✔️ Trauma survivors
✔️ Individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, or PTSD
✔️ Those with neurodiverse conditions (e.g., autism, ADHD)
✔️ People coping with grief, stress, or significant life changes

No Art Skills Required!
The focus isn’t on creating “good” art—it’s about using creativity as a therapeutic tool for emotional healing and self-discovery.

Would you try art psychotherapy? Let’s talk! 🎨💙 Book online with Rebecca at www.steppingstonesokanagan.ca

This is why we have created and offered grief groups at no charge for children and teens. 1 in 14 🥲

🌟 Today is 🦋

Did you know that 1 in 14 children will experience the death of a parent or sibling before turning 18? Grief can be overwhelming and isolating, yet children’s needs are often overlooked.

This day reminds us to recognize and support grieving children, highlighting an important truth: Children. Do. Grieve.

Join us in raising awareness and wearing blue today to show support for grieving children everywhere. Together, we can foster understanding, compassion, and community for those navigating loss.

How You Know Therapy Is Helping Your Child or Teen

Progress in therapy can be subtle at first — small, steady shifts that build toward lasting change. Here are a few signs you might notice:

✨ They recover from upset more quickly.
✨ They’re beginning to name their feelings instead of acting them out.
✨ You see moments of playfulness, creativity, or curiosity returning.
✨ Conflicts at home start to ease — even just a little.
✨ They’re more open to connection, hugs, or shared laughter.
✨ You hear them using coping tools or language from their therapist.

Healing isn’t always linear, but these gentle signs often mean your child’s nervous system is feeling safer, and they’re beginning to trust themselves — and others — again.

🕊️ At Stepping Stones, we walk alongside children, teens, and families as they grow toward resilience, regulation, and connection.
