💜Brave Hearts Club: Children’s Grief & Loss Support Group💜

Grief can feel big and confusing—especially for kids. That’s why creating a safe space for children to share their feelings, ask questions, and connect with others who understand is so important.

COHA is offering an 8-week support group for children ages 5–12 who have experienced the loss of a family member or friend. Through art, games, gentle conversations, and a little fun, kids can begin to process their grief in healthy ways—knowing they’re not alone.

🕓 4:00–5:30 PM
📍 COHA August Center, #200-1890 Cooper Road

☀️ A little winter sunshine goes a long way.

Today, the sun showed up in the middle of winter, reminding us that even in the quieter seasons, warmth and light are always possible. As we step into this new year, all of us at COHA are feeling deeply grateful for our community: for the compassion, generosity, and steady presence you bring to one another every single day.

This sunshine feels like an invitation to pause, breathe, and carry hope forward. Together, we continue to create a community where care, connection, and kindness shine through, no matter the season.

Here's to new beginnings, shared light, and walking hand in hand into the year ahead.

If you’re still considering plans for year-end giving, The Power of Giving x 2 doubles your generosity by doubling your gift. Until February 2026, all donations will be matched – dollar for dollar – up to $110,000. This is made possible through the generosity of our donor, Roger Gale. There’s still time to make a significant impact for those facing end of life and grief.

Visit hospicecoha.org/the-power-of-giving-x2/ to double your gift today.

It’s with sincere thanks that we recognize the contributions of the KGH Foundation to support the provision of in-room cable TV services for 24 rooms at Kelowna Hospice House and 3 palliative care rooms at Brookhaven Care Centre.

Access to cable TV for these patients provides more than just entertainment — it brings comfort, connection, and dignity during life’s final journey. Comfort measures such as this complement the array of services COHA provides to ensure that the journey through hospice care is enriched with compassion, connection, and meaningful experiences.

Thank you, KGH Foundation, for your on-going partnership with COHA and for helping us ensure that no one has to die or grieve alone.

Happy Holidays from all of us at the Central Okanagan Hospice Association (COHA).

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our incredible volunteers – including our volunteer Board Members – our supporters, and our donors, whose compassion and generosity make our work possible all year long. Thank you for walking alongside us in creating a community where no one has to grieve or die alone.

To allow our team to rest and recharge, the COHA August Centre will be closed from December 24, reopening December 29 & 30.

We hold our community close in our hearts—especially those who are grieving or missing someone they love. We know this time of year can be tender, and we want you to know that you are not alone. Visit hospicecoha.org for supports and resources.

As the first candle is lit tonight, we send our heartfelt wishes to everyone celebrating Hanukkah. May this Festival of Lights bring peace, hope, and moments of connection with the people you cherish.

At COHA, we honour the many traditions that bring comfort, reflection, and togetherness. Today, we celebrate with our Jewish community and wish you a season filled with light and love.

Happy Hanukkah from all of us at the Central Okanagan Hospice Association.

Death and grief don’t pause for the holidays — and neither can we.

Every day, individuals and families in our community face some of life’s hardest moments. COHA is here to ensure no one has to navigate illness, dying, or grief alone — but we can’t do it without our communities support.

This season, your generosity can go twice as far.

✨ Every gift will be doubled — up to $110,000. ✨
That means more support, more care, and more moments of dignity and comfort for those who need it most.

Make your gift today and watch your impact multiply.
Together, we can create a community where compassion leads the way.

If you or someone you love is grieving this season, gentle planning, setting boundaries, and honouring memories in meaningful ways can help. There is no right or wrong way to move through this time.
