Today, on National Grief & Bereavement Day, let’s begin to close Canada’s grief literacy gap — together.
Talking about death, loss, or grief can feel awkward, and grief is often misunderstood — both by those experiencing it and by those trying to help. Everyone will face loss at some point, yet few of us are prepared for how long it can last, how deeply it can affect us, or how it can change our lives and the lives of those we love.
When personal connection matters most, many who are grieving feel alone, misunderstood, or unsupported. Even well-meaning friends and family can struggle to provide comfort in ways that are most helpful.
