Grief affects everyone in different ways, and healing often begins in community.

Thank you to Telus Future Friendly Foundation for supporting youth in accessing grief and bereavement services without barriers. Healing happens when people feel seen, heard, and supported by those around them.

Thank you for sharing these services with our community.

Today, we honour and celebrate all mothers, caregivers and mother figures who nurture, guide, comfort, protect, and love in ways both seen and unseen.

Mother’s Day can hold many emotions. For some, it is a joyful celebration filled with gratitude and connection. For others, it may carry grief, remembrance, longing, or reflection for someone deeply missed. Wherever you may find yourself today, please know you are held with care.

At COHA, we witness every day the extraordinary strength, compassion, and love that mothers, caregivers, and mother figures bring into the lives of others. Thank you for the countless ways you create comfort, inspire resilience, and leave lasting legacies of love.

From all of us at COHA, we wish you a gentle and meaningful Mother’s Day.

Award-winning Canadian contemporary artist Laurie Koss has opened her heart once again. This Mother’s Day, Laurie is honouring the memory of her dear friend Brenda, who passed away in July 2025. Together, they shared countless outdoor adventures and even stepped outside their comfort zones to participate in SWTS – an experience like no other.

In remembrance of Brenda, Laurie has created a beautiful painting titled “Brenda’s Flower” — a heartfelt tribute inspired by friendship and love.

Today, on Red Dress Day, we pause to honour and remember Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit people.

We recognize the deep grief carried by families, communities, and Nations, and the strength, love, and advocacy that continues to call for justice.

At COHA, we hold space for grief in all its forms. Today, we stand in reflection, in remembrance, and in solidarity.
