I’m Brenda. I am a mother of six, I taught Special Ed (grades kindergarten through 12) for over 25 years, and I have been a Family Life counsellor since 1999. Everything I say, do, and advocate is based on the maxim “To our children we can give two things: one is roots and the other is wings". I believe that the importance of family cannot be overemphasized. Our families – the ones we were born into, the ones we were raised in, the ones we have created as adults – make up everything that we are. And this includes our chosen families: work, community, friends. Everything comes down to the fact that Family Matters. Family matters encompass a wide range of topics, not only ones related to raising children and being part of a healthy family, but also to problems relating to life in general. Dealing with family matters is my passion, my fascination and my life’s work. I hope that on this page you find words that cause you to think, words that help you, words that encourage you and make you feel good. Welcome to the family of Roots and Wings Kelowna.
