The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) says the newest recall spans the Amazon-owned grocer's organic homestyle and blueberry waffles sold under the 365 Whole Foods Market label.

The agency says the waffles recalled by Horizon Distributors Ltd. were sold in British Columbia, but may have also made their way to other provinces and territories.

It adds there have been no reported illnesses associated with the waffles, but the agency is conducting a food safety investigation, which it says may lead to the recall of other products.

Dozens of frozen waffles from brands like Compliments, Great Value, Duncan Hines and No Name were recalled earlier in the week over similar listeria concerns.

TreeHouse Foods said Friday that it issued a voluntary recall after discovering possible contamination during routine testing at its Brantford, Ont., manufacturing facility. It said the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and U.S. food regulators are aware of the recall.

The CFIA posted an advisory on Monday warning that various brands of waffles were being recalled due to the risk of possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

The recalled products include numerous types of frozen waffles produced by No Name, sold in Loblaws and No Frills; Walmart's Great Value brand, sold in Walmarts in Canada; Metro's Selection brand, sold at Metro and Food Basics; Compliments, sold at Sobeys, Foodland and FreshCo stores; and Canadian brand Western Family.

CFIA's advisory lists the specific products recalled in Canada, and TreeHouse has published a full list of affected products.

Yogurt from Costco is being recalled for the second time in a month, after manufacturer Danone Canada said the product may contain a type of yeast that could lead to illness in immunocompromised people.

The recall affects Costco's Kirkland Signature Probiotic Yogurt that comes in a 24-pack of 100-gram servings, which was bought at its warehouses in Canada between Sept. 3 and Sept. 19, Danone Canada said in a notice posted on the retailer's website on Sept. 23.

The affected products have best-before dates of Oct. 18, Oct. 20 and Oct. 22.

Danone added that the food safety risk was low, as the yeast is not known to grow in refrigerated temperatures.

A brand of yogurt sold at Costco has been recalled due to mould, says the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).

The federal agency's notification affects 24-packs of Greek yogurt under Costco's Kirkland Signature brand with the best before date of Aug. 10, 2024, marked as "2024 AU 10." The printed UPC code is "0 96619 22215 5."

The agency says the microbial contamination is not harmful, though stores and consumers are told not to use, sell, serve or distribute the affected product.

The recalled products were distributed in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Quebec and Saskatchewan, according to the CFIA.

The agency warned against eating the product, distributed in British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Ontario, Quebec, Saskatchewan and "possibly other provinces and territories."

Food contaminated with Cronobacter may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick, the CFIA said.

The bacteria, which can cause rare bloodstream and central nervous system infections, has been associated with severe intestinal infection and blood poisoning (sepsis), especially in newborns, it said.

Consumers and distributors should look for 227-gram boxes of the dry cereal with the lot code 3334007809 and a best-before date of May 30, 2025. The UPC code is 0 65000 13361 5.
