SO excited for this!! We did this panel a few a years ago & it has been reignited through connecting over our kids and hockey (gotta love the hockey world!). It’s such an honour to get to be a part of this. We had coffee today and it was so awesome, so real, such great stories shared, and many laughs. Come join us Tuesday Sep 23rd, it’s going to be a very special and memorable night!
Meet your moderator: Barb Egan ✨

Super excited to have Andrew on this panel because not only has he been my son’s coach the last few years and getting to be on the ice with him, we are also teammates on a Urban Rec league multi sport team so I get see him as a coach and teammate 😂
Excited to highlight Andrew Ladd, longtime NHL forward and two-time Stanley Cup champion, as one of four retired NHL players taking the stage for the upcoming Open Ice mental-health panel.

Through the Ladd Foundation and 1616 initiative, Ladd now uses his experience with injuries and life after hockey to advocate for mental strength in youth sports. He’s coming to Open Ice ready to speak openly about resilience, purpose, and empowering the next generation.

So excited to have fellow goalie & hockey parent of 4 on our panel!
Thrilled to highlight Mike Smith, longtime NHL goalie, as he joins us for the Open Ice panel; an evening of conversations on mental health.

After years chasing perfection in the crease, Smith has spoken openly about the battles that came with it. Now he’s sharing his story to shine a light on the mindset, balance, and resilience it takes to perform and to keep showing up in life.

Here’s the game plan:
🌟 Kick things off with a VIP pre-event hang at the OKGN Shop, a chance to connect with all four retired NHL players in a more intimate setting. Plus, front row seats at the panel. *Limited VIP Exeperience tickets available.
🎤 Then we head to Mary Irwin Theatre for a panel discussion filled with vulnerability, courage, and tools to carry forward into everyday life.

It’s going to be real, powerful, and the kind of night that reminds us why these conversations matter so much.

So excited to have Jordin on our Open Ice panel! A few years ago we did another mental health charity event titled “This is What Hope Looks Like” & have just loved getting to know his girls & through hockey & school community 🩵 So excited to have you all a part of this meaningful conversation event and excited for your documentary coming out Nov 1st too!
Honoured to introduce Jordin Tootoo, one of four retired NHL players taking the stage for the upcoming Open Ice mental health panel.

Tootoo, the first Inuk player in the NHL, has turned his personal journey through loss and addiction into a powerful message of hope. Tootoo comes to the panel ready to break the silence around mental health, share his story, and offer hope to anyone who may be struggling.

Join us Tuesday, September 23rd, for an evening of real, unfiltered dialogue on mental health. Together, we’ll break down barriers and remind each other that it’s okay to feel, to struggle, to ask for help, and to keep going. Because when we see ourselves reflected in someone else’s story, we feel a little less alone in our own.

Very excited to have Wade back on the panel for this event! Wade was on our original panel a few years ago & I have loved getting to know and be on the ice with him and his girls since. He’s the real deal!
Proud to introduce Wade Redden, former NHL defenseman and Olympian, as one of four players hitting the stage for our upcoming Open Ice mental health panel.

As a top draft pick, Redden carried the weight of big expectations and later weathered some career setbacks. He is ready to bring his wisdom to the panel and speak openly about identity, transition, and the lessons hockey taught him about perseverance.

👋 Want some face time with all the players? Grab a VIP Experience ticket to join us at the OKGN Shop for an intimate gathering, plus guaranteed front-row seats at the panel.

✨ Doors to Mary Irwin Theatre swing open at 5:30pm, come early and soak it all in. We’ll have some amazing vendors bringing activations and community energy: . Don’t miss the chance to connect, explore, and kick the night off right.
