Preparing your body and mind for practice make a difference.
You'll find improvement in your practice results when you can leave a short space between whatever you were doing in life and practice time. I often will do a brief stretch if my time is short and this gets my body and mind focused on what I'm about to do. The mindset must be ready for practice for it to be effective too. Thinking about bills, what you have to do or anything outside of practice will reduce the effectiveness of your practice time.
