The residents at Orchard City have had a busy summer. The Board of Directors have continued with the updating and improvements to the house and the yard. This year we focused on some of the outdoor areas, concentrating on the gardens and patio sitting areas. The Board purchased a new "gazebo" it is large enough that all the residents can gather around and have a social or outdoor BBQ.
We did have to have several trees removed, due to safety issues. This gave us several new areas to create sitting areas. We now have plans to have a horseshoe game area built in spring of 2023.
Orchard City Abbeyfield participated in a Volunteer fair, hosted by Parkenson Rec Center. We were fortunate to meet several wonderful people. Looking forward to the next fair.
During the summer, we played several games outside in the yard, enjoying the "fire smoke free" summer. We played Bocci Ball and Washers.
At the end of summer, staff arranged an outing on a pontoon boat, with a picnic lunch. It was a relaxing day of cruising the waves.
With the approach of fall, the residents entered the Abbeyfield Canada scarecrow building contest. Although we did not win, we had a great evening of fun building them.
Residents here participated in a program through london drugs, called Santa for Seniors. Each and every resident received a gift bag it made Christmas morning very special.
The Board of Directors (all Volunteers) the Staff and all the residents want to wish everyone a Happy New Year. We are all looking forward to "2023"
