When your body decides to get sick hours before vacation..... Thank good for ancient wisdom and it’s miracle medicines!!!

By about 4 pm (out of nowhere - except maybe from driving through the smoke outside nakusp?) my glands were painfully swollen, my body was achy and my head was throbbing.... by 5pm I had Moonstone Ferments Master tonic, a glass of MotherLove sweet ginger ‘bucha and snuggled into bed. 9pm has me laughing!!! Almost 100% better in 4 hours!!

This is a great article outlining some of the ways the studies we read can be manipulated to find and support specific beliefs.

One of the most valuble classes I took in my schooling to become a holistic nutritionist was literature research - we learned to read into the parameters of a study to pinpoint any inaccurate or missing elements and glean as much good information from the study as possible.

Often times what may become deceiving in double blind studies is a control group that failed to take quality into account. An example of this is the infamous studies in the 1960's of fat free diets vs diets including highly processed vegetable oils.

Although by nature science is 'exact', theres a discrete art in finding the truth in the science.

Nutrition is a nuanced and contradictory science - thankfully if you listen, your body will tell you whats right for it.

Exciting News!

I am the first to admit that recycling is definitely not the solution when it comes to reducing our waste.

However, there are things that we use everyday that are a necessary part of life. And other items that we are trying to use up before making the switch to a more eco-friendly option.

The below items cannot be recycled locally but they can be recycled through a company called Terracycle. Starting today we are excited to announce that we will be recycling the following items to help keep them out of the landfill and out of our waterways.

Diet; originally from the greek root Diaete, meaning way of life.

There is no seperating your diet from your life.

The collection, consumption and elimination of food is as foundational and ritualistic as breathing.

There is no such thing as a quick fix or a short term diet that will change your body or your experience of your life, as a human creature your body is your life.

Embrace it, find the beauty, enjoy the little bites of your life.

Stop looking for a diet you can pack into the rushed creavasses of your life.

Learn to let food become part of you, a source of inspiration, community and pure pleasure.

Because it already is.

Are you ready to set your day up to THRIVE?

In the past few weeks, my life has been on a complete roller coaster - from big work trips to my dad having a gnarly ski accident that required surgeries and clocking some serious hours in the hospital.

It would be SO easy for me to throw in the towel, take more time than necessary off and have a pitty party (I know - I've done it before as an entrepreneur) but in the past year I've learned some habits that have changed the way I structure my day - health and business wise.

My morning ritual has become a religious act of setting my day up for success. It's flexible (as in, can still thrive from a dodgy motel up north, or a girlfriends couch) and it helps me to get CENTERED in who I am and what I aim to do in the hours that make up my day.

I'll be sharing MY morning habits, as well as biohacking approved, nutrition science based ways to THRIVE through your morning - this Thursday at 12pm-130pm at the Okanagan CoLab.
