The Chaotic Dermoscopic Appearance of Melanoma: It Can Appear Anywhere! 🩺🌟

Melanoma is a serious form of skin cancer that can sometimes be hard to spot, especially because it can present on non sun exposed area of the skin. On dermoscopy, melanoma often shows irregular borders, asymmetry, a mix of colors (like shades of brown, black, and even red), and sometimes a variety of textures.

What many don’t know is that melanoma doesn’t have to appear on sun-exposed areas! It can develop on areas of the body that aren’t typically exposed to sunlight, such as the palms, soles, under nails, and even mucous membranes.

⚠️ Key Things to Look for:
• Asymmetry
• Irregular borders
• Multiple colors
• Size >6mm
• Bleeding or itching

Always remember, early detection is crucial! Regular self-checks and dermatology visits can help catch melanoma before it spreads. Stay vigilant, and get your skin checked regularly!

🔍 What is a Nevus with Spitzoid Features? 🔍

A nevus with spitzoid features is a type of mole that can sometimes resemble melanoma due to its appearance, but it’s typically benign. These moles often have irregular borders, asymmetric shape, and unusual coloring. While they can look suspicious, it’s important to have any unusual skin changes checked by a skin cancer doctor to rule out any risk of skin cancer.

If you notice a mole that is:
• Changing in size, shape, or color
• Itching, bleeding, or crusting
• Or if it looks different from your other moles

Don’t wait. Early detection of any skin abnormality can make all the difference.

📅 Regular skin checks are key. Your dermatologist can help identify and monitor any changes to prevent future risks.

🩺 Stay safe. Protect your skin. Get regular check-ups.
