This one is unlike anything we have released before.
Episode 164 of heCast is out now with Dave Muller, author of Not Child’s Play.
In 1990, Dave, his wife Sandy, and their two young children set sail toward the Bazaruto Islands in Mozambique. After their yacht ran aground, they were captured by child soldiers and held for seven weeks during the Mozambican Civil War.
This episode is about survival, fear, faith, family, PTSD, healing, and what happens when a man is forced to carry unimaginable responsibility while trying to protect the people he loves most.
Dave’s story is harrowing, emotional, and deeply human. But it is also a story about hope, perspective, and the belief that even the tightest knots in life can sometimes be loosened.

Episode 164 of heCast is now live, and this may be one of the most unforgettable conversations we have ever shared.
Mike sits down with Dave Muller, author of Not Child’s Play, to hear the astonishing true story of how a family sailing trip became a seven-week hostage ordeal during the Mozambican Civil War.
In 1990, Dave, his wife Sandy, and their two young children were sailing toward the Bazaruto Islands when their yacht ran aground on the mainland. What followed was almost impossible to imagine: capture by child soldiers, seven weeks held in the bush, moments of fear and uncertainty, and a dramatic rescue that Dave would only fully understand decades later.
But this episode is not only about what happened.
It is about what came after.
Dave opens up about PTSD, faith, family, healing, returning to Mozambique, writing Not Child’s Play, and how the story now supports Hostage International, a charity helping former hostages and their families after release.
One of the most powerful moments in the conversation comes through Dave’s reflection on the bowline knot: no matter how tightly it has been pulled, it can still be loosened.
For anyone carrying something heavy, this episode is a reminder that the story is not over.

Most people hear the oxygen mask instructions and never think about how much they apply to real life.
Put yours on first.
That does not mean you are selfish. It means you understand that you cannot help the people you love if you are depleted, distracted, burned out, or ignoring your own wellbeing.
In this clip from heCast Episode 163, Robert Siciliano talks about how taking care of yourself first connects directly to your mental health, your relationships, your security, and your ability to show up as a spouse, father, friend, and human being.
Getting sleep matters.
Eating properly matters.
Drinking water matters.
Protecting your mental health matters.
Taking care of your personal and digital security matters.
The question is not whether self-care is selfish.
The question is: who are you able to become for others when you finally stop ignoring yourself?

Most hackers are not “hacking” anymore.
They are logging in.
In this clip from heCast Episode 163, cybersecurity expert Robert Siciliano explains why reusing the same password across accounts puts people at serious risk — especially when billions of passwords are already exposed on the dark web.
The good news? A few simple changes can put you ahead of most people:
Use a password manager.
Stop reusing the same passcode everywhere.
Turn on two-factor authentication.
Especially for your email.
Your email is often the doorway to everything else. Protect it like it matters.

Most of us do not think about digital or personal security until something happens.
A scam. A breach. A moment where trust gets used against us.
In Episode 163 of heCast, Mike sits down with cybersecurity expert Robert Siciliano for a powerful conversation about cybersecurity, personal safety, human awareness, AI deception, trust, shame, and what it means to become a Strategic Human Firewall.
This episode goes beyond passwords and phishing scams. Robert breaks down how denial, complacency, and emotional reactions can leave us vulnerable — and how better awareness can help protect our families, our workplaces, and our peace of mind.
Whether you are a parent, business owner, leader, or simply someone who wants to feel more prepared in a hyper-connected world, this one is worth your time.
