Our Valleywood community came together to honour and remember those who bravely served for our freedom. From the stirring sound of bagpipes, beautifully played by Scottish guest Archie Morrison — who also performed at the 75th anniversary of the building of the Vimy Ridge Monument — to a heartfelt speech and a poignant reading of “In Flanders Fields” by resident and retired elementary school principal, Alan Storehouse. To all who shared meaningful photos of loved ones who fought for our country, the evening was truly special.

This November 11th celebration was filled with reflection and gratitude — a day of remembrance, friendship, love, and benevolence. A heartfelt tribute to those courageous souls who came before us.

🌟 A Roaring Success — The Great Gatsby Casino Night at Valleywood! 🌟

What an unforgettable evening! Our Great Gatsby Casino Night was the bee’s knees. Residents and guests came dressed to the nines, channeling the style and sparkle of the 1920s and ’30s. ✨

For one magical red carpet night, we were transported back in time. Laughter echoed across the casino tables — from Blackjack and Roulette to Horse Racing and Craps! 🎲🐎 The energy was electric, the libations flowing, and the sounds of Sam Farruggio’s live music brought the whole evening to life. 🎶

Raffles, prizes, and generous donations made the night even brighter, but the true highlight was the joy of coming together, celebrating life, friendship, and moments to cherish. 💛

Created with love by the Super Trooper Team at Valleywood. This event reminded us that when community and creativity come together, anything is possible. 🥂

Meet Scott, our Super Trooper Bus Driver! 🚌😄

Scott brings energy, laughter, and heart to every trip he takes with our residents. For him, driving at Valleywood isn’t just a job, it’s pure joy. “The residents are always happy, always ready for a good joke or a friendly jab,” he says. “Their laughter and great conversations give me reason to come to work every day.”

He loves being part of the amazing Valleywood team — a group he describes as a family that’s always ready to help each other out. With his kindness, quick wit, and infectious smile, Scott has a way of making everyone’s day brighter, whether he’s sharing stories from his travels around the world or keeping everyone laughing along the ride.

Fun fact / Superpower: Scott’s superpower is spreading joy. He can turn an ordinary bus ride into a rolling comedy show. Always cheerful, endlessly kind, and full of stories, he’s our Super Trooper fun guy who keeps Valleywood moving with heart and humour. ❤️🚌✨

🎵 We’re so lucky to have so much talent among our residents! Our lovely Linnea often blesses us with her beautiful piano playing, filling the room with music and smiles. 💕

From musicians and photographers to artists and quilters, we’re surrounded by creativity every day. It’s such a joy to celebrate the wonderful talents that make our community so special.🌸✨

Bridging Generations and Cultures 🌍💬🎶

What a wonderful morning at Valleywood! We were delighted to welcome International University Students who joined our residents for a day of conversation, connection, and learning.

The students were eager to practice their English, and our residents were just as excited to share stories, wisdom, and laughter. Together, they discovered how much we can learn from one another — no matter our age or where we come from. 💕

To make the morning even more special, one of the students from Japan surprised us all with her beautiful piano performance — the perfect finishing touch to an inspiring day! 🎹✨

What a game! ⚾💙

Our residents had a grand slam of a time watching Game 1 of the Blue Jays World Series in our theatre — complete with hot dogs, cold beer, and plenty of cheering! 🎉

The Jays came out swinging with an 11–4 victory, and the excitement was contagious from the first pitch to the last out.

Go Blue Jays! 💙🦋 Let’s keep the momentum going!

Meet Kelly, our Maintenance Maestro! 🔧🎶

For Kelly, Valleywood offers just as much fulfillment as it does for our residents — maybe even more. He loves the laughter, the conversations, and the sense of belonging that fill every corner of the community. “They might not realize it,” he says, “but each one of them has a big positive impact on my life.” To him, Valleywood feels like an extended family, even when there are a million pictures waiting to be hung!

Kelly’s career path has been as diverse as his toolbox. From his family’s long-running auto body business to restaurant service, 24 years in Ford parts, and over six years in Alberta’s music, television, and film industry. Eventually, he found his true calling in maintenance, working in resorts and care communities where he enjoys the freedom to tackle creative projects and keep things running smoothly.

When he’s not busy keeping Valleywood in tip-top shape, you’ll likely find Kelly under the hood of a classic car or behind the wheel of one, singing along to a roaring V8. Once a passionate performer, these days he’s just as happy belting out a tune on the open road.

Fun fact / Superpower: Kelly can fix almost anything, except his love for old cars and classic rock. 🎵🚗❤️

🍂🎃 Our residents had a wonderful sunny day trip to Davison Orchards in Vernon! They enjoyed exploring the farm, picking out the perfect pumpkins, and soaking up the fall sunshine.

Back at home, a few of our creative residents got to work painting their pumpkins — and the results were just as bright and cheerful as the day itself!

A beautiful outing filled with laughter, creativity, and the spirit of the autumn season. ❤️

🎸 What a great afternoon we had at happy hour with our good friend, Bill Bisillion, keeping us entertained on guitar! 🎶

A few sing-alongs, a few brave souls cutting a rug (no photos of that part — our photographer was too busy dancing too! 😉), and plenty of laughter to go around.
