Cupping is an ancient technique used to relieve stagnation in muscle and other areas of the body. Glass cups are used to create suction, either moving along the muscle with oil or staying in place. In modern times it is often referred to as myofascial decompression as it can alleviate tension and move blood in tight fascia or muscle. This often has an immediate effect on reducing tension, restoring muscle function, and relieving pain. It can also be used for internal medicine and is especially suited in helping with symptoms of the common cold.

Guasha has a similar effect to cupping but instead uses a jade stone to rub and press the affected area. Both can be done in addition to acupuncture or tuina.

Mental Health Awareness Month feature! Falko Kriel has completed additional training in the field of mental health, and frequently supports patients with conditions such as anxiety and depression. Falko is a certified acupuncture detox specialist, having trained in substance abuse recovery settings on the Vancouver Downtown Eastside to help those suffering from depression, anxiety, addiction, and other mental health disorders. He has also worked with a variety of substance abuse recovery and community support programs in Kelowna.
