Congratulations to KDH’s own Kat (center) for receiving a ‘Good Catch Award’ yesterday (January 7)! Kat, a Registered Nurse in the Surgical Care Unit, was recognized for identifying a documentation error that prevented a potential risk before it could reach a patient. KDH’s President and CEO, Frank Vassallo (right), presented the award and thanked Kat for her diligence, professionalism, and commitment to patient safety.

KDH is pleased to announce the launch of mobile consultation services in partnership with the West Ottawa Homelessness and Addiction Recovery Treatment (HART) Hub, starting today (January 7, 2026).
The intent of the Community Health Rapid Access Management Program (RAMP), led by the West Ottawa HART Hub, is to assist rural hospitals with providing care to individuals seeking care for substance use and housing related concerns. The goal is to alleviate pressure on the KDH Emergency Department (ED), while providing high quality and safe care to patients.
KDH can call out to the Community Health RAMP, between 9am and 3pm Monday through Friday, and the service will provide care directly to the patient in the ED. The Community Health RAMP will also offer assistance with discharge coordination for admitted patients at the hospital, as well as follow-up care related to substance use.

Team KDH was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Robert Noseworthy, who was a dedicated supporter of our hospital for many years. Robert, a local builder and business leader, served as the former Chair of the KDH Foundation and member of the KDH Board of Directors.
“Robert was a very kind and thoughtful person,” said Frank Vassallo, KDH president and CEO. “He always answered the call to help, and he was a great friend to our Foundation and hospital. Robert was a pillar of our community who generously dedicated his time and expertise to many organizations, including ours. We are so grateful to have been part of Robert’s journey – KDH is better for having known him.”
KDH lowered its flags to half-mast in honour of Robert, who will be deeply missed by our community. Our heartfelt condolences go out to Robert’s family, friends and loved ones.

Thank you to everyone who has donated to the Toes-T-Tootsies sock drive in support of the House of Lazarus (HOL) Food Bank! KDH’s bin was overflowing with new socks, mitts and toques, which organizer Craig McCormick (left) was happy to pick up today. The campaign runs until Friday, December 19, and all items go to HOL’s holiday hampers. Donations can be dropped off at the bin located in KDH’s main entrance area, across from the greeting desk. Thank you for helping to keep others warm this holiday season!

The festive fun finally caught up to KDH’s elf, who fell off his shelf and bumped his head! Our CT staff took great care of him, and we’re happy to report he’s on the mend and looking forward to the holiday season.

We’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our wonderful KDH Auxiliary for purchasing four brand-new stretchers for the hospital! The Auxiliary donated over $35,000 to cover the cost of the adjustable stretchers, which ensure quick transport in critical situations and reduce the risk of injuries. We’re so grateful for our Auxiliary’s tremendous support!
