Eating disorders can affect anyone, no matter their age, gender, background, or body type.
Messages about weight, dieting, and what “healthy” looks like can influence how people feel about their bodies and their relationship with food. These ideas are not always helpful and can cause unnecessary stress or shame.
By encouraging body respect, kindness, and understanding, we can help shift the focus from appearance to overall well-being. Health is about more than what you see on the outside.
LWDH Mental Health and Addictions is dedicated to providing support for those living with eating disorders in our community. We provide individual counselling as well as community referrals and connections to other eating disorder-based services in the Kenora area including dietitians, physicians, and national support networks. LWDH Mental Health & Addictions is closely connected with the Regional Outreach Eating Disorder Program based out of Thunder Bay and is able to access information, consultations and referrals through this multidisciplinary team.
