Upcoming Office Closures:
The SCFHT offices (Kenora, Keewatin, and Lakeside Sites) will be closed Tuesday, September 30, in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. All clinics will resume regular hours on Wednesday, October 1st.

Our Community Health Worker, Taylor and our Occupational Therapist, Brittan are attending the Older Adults Expo at Seven Gens today, September 25!

This event is on until 3pm and is full of incredible presentations, guidance, and has many amazing community support booths to check out for local resources -- including us! Go say hi, and learn more about what our community has to offer.

Did you know?

HPV (Human Papillomavirus) is the most common STI—but it’s also preventable.

✅ Get vaccinated

✅ Use protection

✅ Access Ontario's HPV cervical screening program when eligible and screen regularly

✅ See your health care provider or a public health sexual health clinic for any questions or concerns

HPV Vaccinations Available for Grades 7–12

If you're in Grade 7 to 12, you qualify to receive your HPV vaccine through:

· In-school vaccination clinics, or

· By appointment at the Northwestern Health Unit - call 807-468-3147 to make your appointment

If you're not in this age group, talk to your health care provider about your options for getting the HPV vaccine.

Protect yourself. Get vaccinated!

The waitlist (as of January 1, 2025) has decreased by over 98,000 people or 42% - reflecting Ontario’s continued work to connect everyone to primary care.

Rabies confirmed in a bat in the Rainy Lake area.

Rabies is a deadly virus that spreads through the bites or scratches of infected animals. It can affect both people and pets — but it’s preventable.

Protect yourself & your pets:
🐾 Keep pets’ rabies vaccines up to date
🙅‍♀️ Don’t touch or feed wild/stray animals
👀 Stay away from animals acting sick or strange

If you are bitten or scratched by a wild or unknown animal, see a healthcare provider right away.
