Shannon Reynolds holds a Bachelor degree in management and a diploma in acupuncture from the Canadian College of Oriental Medicine and Acupuncture, Victoria, BC, and has completed formal TCM studies at Calgary College of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, Calgary, AB and Pacific Rim College, Victoria, BC. Trained in cupping, moxibustion, auricular acupuncture, tuina, jin shin do, reiki, sound heali
ng and bodytalk access. My interest in Traditional Chinese medicine began during studies to South Korea, Malaysia, and Singapore while participating in a University cross-cultural international management term. These life-changing travel and work experiences shifted my life-paradigm towards intentional cultivation of a holistic view and approach towards the interconnection of mind, body, and spirit. Thus began a six-year exploration of traditional medicines in South East Asia and Canada as they related to her personally. The impacts of this journey were profound, prompting me to complete a 3-year acupuncture diploma. My keen interest in the 5-element perspective of Chinese Medicine, I strive to provide holistic care for clients by means of supporting and encouraging the change, growth and development of mind, body and spirit from one state or condition to another a brief moment of time. I recognize and incorporate the 5 Elements as I gather information from clients through intuitive perception to create an elemental landscape of her clients’ needs. Whether the markers present as physical pain, emotional distress, or mental anxiety, I use acupuncture techniques to guide clients’ bodies back to their innate state of wellness. While the world as we know it is rapidly changing, I am committed to using Chinese medicine principles and techniques to provide safe and nurturing treatments to people of all walks of life. I believe a return to elemental and holistic practices provides an appropriate and strong bedrock from which to navigate the disruptive traumas our bodies and spirits face in our life-journeys. I enjoy exploring and photographing the changing elements of nature in all seasons with husband Ken and two young sons. I feel right at home here in the Annapolis Valley with an innate passion for organically growing plants for culinary and medicinal purposes. During the cold dark months I find myself turning inward to study the stories of the cosmos while turning the pages of seed catalogues waiting for the Earth to be ready for spring planting.
