Training Night: Evidence Preservation
Last night, TCGSAR members took part in a training session led by RCMP Sgt. S. Hebert, who presented on Evidence Preservation, an essential skill for any search and rescue responder.
While the public may think our primary role is finding missing persons, which it is, we can also be deployed to search for evidence. Anyone familiar with search tactics knows that first and foremost we are looking for clues. Understanding how to identify, protect, and document potential evidence is a critical part of that work.
Sgt. Hebert shared valuable insights drawn from real-world experience while covering topics such as:
• Protecting evidence from the elements
• Proper note-taking and documentation
• Maintaining confidentiality and secure perimeters
• Working with authorities during investigations
We also took time to recognize several members for their years of service and dedication to the team. RCMP Supt. B. Jolette joined us to present the awards and thank our volunteers for their ongoing commitment to public safety.
With over 50 members attending last night, our commitment to training continues to grow. Thanks to the generosity of Oulton College, we now have a new training space that provides an excellent environment for our members to learn and develop their skills.
Thank you to Sgt. Hebert, Oulton College, and all who continue to strengthen TCGSAR
