Many thanks to B.M.H.S. For their donation of $1100 to Barrington Ground Search and Rescue. Donations came from proceeds of their red and grey day walk a thon that also raised money for their school lunch program. Thank you very much!

The number of people living with dementia globally is predicted to rise to 78 million globally by 2030 and 139 million by 2050. National Dementia Plans are the best tool governments can use to tackle this crisis, but they require sustainable support. Add your voice to the chorus of Canadians advocating for federal funding toward Canada’s national dementia strategy.

The only way forward is together. During this World Alzheimer’s Month, join us in raising awareness and calling on governments and communities to take action. Your voice can shape the national conversation.

A group of our staff visited the Maritime Brain Tissue Bank today! Thank you to Dr. Darvesh and team for welcoming us and showing us around.

The brain bank collects brain tissues to make them available for researchers around the world who are trying to better understand the causes of dementia and other neurological disease.

Good News!
Our boarder issues have been resolved and we are able to resume enrolments. 🎉

To our valued Clients and Volunteers:

Please be advised that we are experiencing difficulties importing our transmitters and supplies across the boarder from the USA. Our Operations Manager continues to work diligently on solving this issue.

As a result, new enrollments will be paused to allow us to continue to support our existing clients to the best of our ability.

We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience.

Search and Rescue teams in Nova Scotia are our "boots on the ground" when a vulnerable client wanders away. They put an enormous amount of time into training and being prepared for when they get the call. Contact us if you know someone prone to wandering who would benefit from this program! Thank you, East Hants Ground Search and Rescue!! :)

Fantastic news out of Saskatoon this morning! If you know someone who is prone to wandering and could benefit from this program, let us know!

Just after 2:00 AM yesterday morning, our team was activated by the Saskatoon Police Service as an 80 year old man was reported missing. The individual is one of our Project Lifesaver International Headquarters (PLI) clients and our team was quickly called in to assist in the search.

Our team responded and using the specialized PLI receivers we were able to locate our client quickly and safely. The time our team received the call out for the activation to the time the individual was located was just less than 30 minutes!

We’re grateful for our partners at SPS, and to be able to support vulnerable members of our community through programs like PLI 🧡🧡

If you know someone that is prone to wandering due to dementia, Alzheimer’s, autism, or other cognitive disorders, learn more about Project Lifesaver at http://projectlifesaversaskatoon.org

We are fortunate in this Province to be partnered with Ground Search and Rescue teams. These are the people who respond immediately to locate our clients should they wander. Congratulations to our new and recertifying Electronic Search Specialists, and to Valley Search and Rescue for running this training session.

A HAPPY ENDING: Last night we were activated to locate a gentleman in the Granville area who had gone for a walk and not returned home. Fortunately, he was wearing a Project Lifesaver transmitter, and our Electronic Search Specialists were able to hone in on his signal, find him within a half hour of arriving on scene, and deliver him back home. Project Lifesaver NS currently has funding available for seniors. Learn about this program here: http://www.projectlifesaver.info/
If you have a loved one who is prone to wandering, you may find this program beneficial. Many thanks to Royal Canadian Mounted Police for their assistance. (stock photo)

The Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is conducting a police training exercise in the area on April 14 and 15.

Project Lifesaver is a non-profit, locating technology program dedicated to assisting and responding to the challenges faced by the caregivers of loved ones who may wander as a result of Alzheimer’s disease, Autism, Down’s syndrome and dementia disorders. Clients registered with Project Lifesaver wear a wrist band which looks similar to a watch that emits a unique automatic tracking signal. Should they go missing, the police would be able to quickly track the client using a radio frequency antenna and receiver.
