Ukweli Academy is our vision of a full time dedicated place of learning, safety and belonging for Black identifying children ages 6 to 13 years, in Georgina Ontario.

Ukweli Academy proposes a rich afrocentric curriculum for grades one to eight filled not only with Science, Technology, English and Math but also with truthful history, ancestral wisdom and sustainable useful life skills.

Hey Georgina!

This is your 5th Annual Georgina Pan-African Flag Festival Planning Committee!

We had our first meeting on March 23rd where we mapped out this year's festival!

We kept all the traditional bits like the flag raising ceremony at the Civic Center, the amazing free dinner and music up at The ROC Chalet and added some wonderful new bits like a kids activity area, fashion show and Black Business Market!

At our second meeting on April 13th we finalized our choices for speakers, musicians, food, decor etc.

On April 25th we hit the road to sample authentic Nigerian food, you can tell from the above pic we had a good time for you😘

Stay tune there is so much more to come from the outstanding group of women!

Kendra Shae-Marie Mullings
Free Being

Kendra Shae-Marie Mullings is an African-Jamaican-Canadian karma yogini in service of the greater good.

She is best known locally in her home community of Georgina Ontario for KendraYoga Center.

At KendraYoga Center whole-life wellness must include racial, education, food and gender justice.

Mullings is the founder of York North Yoga Conference, Black Saturday School, Blue Butterfly Shop, Georgina Pan-African Flag Festival and Georgina Black Excellence Society.

She is a former member of the town of Georgina equity diversity advisory committee and the recipient of the 2022 individual volunteer award of merit from the town of Georgina.

She loves reading, writing, painting, dancing, singing, yoga, mothering and spending time with her family.

Mullings says, "I want my life to be a contribution to joy, love, peace, bliss, abundance and liberation for all."

JANICE MARIE SINGLETON!
Actress.Author.Speaker.Singer.Songwriter

Janice Marie Singleton is the daughter of a Baptist Minister and a Gospel Pianist from Cleveland, Ohio. Her creative growth began at age 9. At age of 14, she began singing Jazz. Attending Cleveland Institute of Music. As a student member of the Cuyahoga Community College Theater Company, she wrote peer written poems into songs and discovered another talent. She then went on to work with HOT CARGO as an opening act for greats like Count Basie, Frank Sinatra, Hazel Scott, Frankie Avalon, and Louie Prima. Then it was on to New York where her first job was as a Motown MARVELETTE. She was featured singing Don’t Mess With Bill and Please Mr. Postman. Janice toured with The Remark Group before being hired to portray Miss Glinda the Good Witch on Broadway in the original Tony Awarding Winning Show The WIZ. After that she secured a publishing deal with Famous Music and Paramount Pictures. Her present catalogue contains 100 songs in the styles of Classical, Country, Gospel, Jazz, POP, Praise and Worship, R&B and Rock.

In 1989 with the help of peers Janice created NUVISION The High Self-Esteem/Drug Prevention show for school children ages 7-14. Through the New York City Board of Education, NUVISION visited schools throughout the 5-boroughs. NUVISION was further booked for a 3-week tour of Bermuda's schools. Next she dived into her all ages inclusive One-Woman Show, LIGHT. This show addressed the fundamental nature of the human to facilitate overall good health and healing in every area and level of life. For further processing, there is a follow-up book: The 9-Chapter Practice Manual Of Positive Thoughts, Words, And Actions To Help Make Our Planet A More Loving Place to Live. The newest book offering from Ms. Singleton is: A Positive Behavior Practice Book For All Ages.

Born in the Midwest to parents who were passionate activists and seekers of justice, Georgette was raised with a deep sense of purpose. Her journey has taken her from the South to the vibrant city of New York and now she calls Canada home.

At 55 years young, she is a proud mother of four adult children and part of a growing, love-filled family. Georgette has always lived with one foot in the real world and the other in a world of imagination—where superheroes exist and justice is worth fighting for. That dream of becoming a superhero evolved into her mission: to inspire others through health and fitness. With nearly 30 years of experience as a fitness coach and personal trainer, she has dedicated her life to helping people tap into their inner power. She believes that every person has a superhero inside—they just need to train, nurture, and unleash it.

To Georgette, health and fitness are not just physical; they are a path to clarity, strength, and purpose. A fit body fuels a fit mind, allowing us to focus on our paths, our families, and our communities with intention and love.
