If you had to pick ONE “treatment” that was best for your overall health, what would you choose?
I’d recommend exercise 🏋️♂️🚴♀️🤸♂️
This doesn’t mean you have to move thousands of pounds in a gym. You can start off with something as simple as walking.
The Canadian 24-Hour Movement Guideline is the first clear recommendation on what a healthy 24 hours looks like for a Canadian aged 18-64.
The three core recommendations are:
1) Move more ⛹️♂️- this includes moderate to vigorous physical activity. Don’t forget that light activity, such as standing, is better than constant sitting. Try to get a minimum of 150 minutes per week. A brisk half hour walk each day puts you over this!
2) Reduce sedentary time- limit your daily sedentary time to 8 hours or less. Break up periods of sitting throughout your workday and keep recreational screen time to less than 3 hours 📺⏱.
3) Sleep 😴- getting 7-9 hours of quality sleep with consistent bed and wake-up times helps the body recover and will leave you feeling more energetic.
My next question is- what will you do to get your heart rate up today?
