There is so much truth in this meme. Thank you to The Narcissist Detox for it. A narcissist doesn't love their children. Instead their children, even into adulthood, are tools to be hung on a shelf and taken down only when needed. A narcissist is out to control their children because they only see them as extensions of themselves. Children are doted on only when needed, to keep up appearances.

If you are dealing with a narcissistic parent or are trying to co parent with one, you don't have to face this alone. We offer a free Mentoring Program all done via email for as long as you need. If this program speaks to you comment below or message the page and we will connect you with one of our mentors. 💜

I never thought I would be a domestic abuse survivor.

Does anyone?

Maybe, on some subconscious level—especially if they grew up in a home where abuse was normalized. But for me, it was a shock. I knew what my ex husband was doing was wrong and hurtful, but I hadn’t connected the dots that it was abuse.

Strange, right?

Actually—not at all.

Since leaving my abusive marriage, I’ve worked with countless survivors, and one of the most common things I hear is,
“I didn’t even realize it was abuse.”

Why?
Because abuse often hides behind conditioning and manipulation.
Because if you grew up with dysfunction, mistreatment can feel familiar.
Because when abuse is spaced out—weeks, months, or even years between incidents—it’s easy to believe the excuses:
“He was just having a bad day.”
“He didn’t mean it.”
“This isn’t really abuse.”

In my own experience, the first incident of physical abuse happened three years into the relationship. The next? Four years after that. It took time—and a lot of pain—before I saw the pattern for what it was.

If this feels familiar, please know: you’re not alone. And you don’t have to navigate this alone, either.

At Rhodes to Wellness Coaching, I support women in breaking free from trauma patterns, reconnecting to themselves, and gently healing the root causes of what’s keeping them stuck—whether that’s emotional abuse, nervous system dysregulation, or deep unconscious beliefs formed in childhood.

Through trauma-informed coaching and Root Cause Therapy, we create a safe space to help you:

Understand and identify harmful relationship dynamics

Release stored trauma gently and safely

Rebuild your sense of self-worth and inner peace

Reclaim your voice, your power, and your joy

You can live a life free of abuse. You deserve safety, healing, and connection.

If you're ready to take a step—no matter how small—reach out. I'm here, and I’d be honoured to walk beside you.

Feel free to message me privately.

If you're feeling called to begin this work but worried about cost, please know that I offer sliding scale options. Your healing matters, and support should be accessible. 💜

June is Post Traumatic Stress Awareness Month 🩵 Domestic abuse can lead to Post Traumatic Stress. Below, our Director shares a bit about her story.

June is Post-Traumatic Stress Awareness Month 🩵

Post-traumatic stress isn’t just something that “lives in the mind.” It takes root in the body, settles in the nervous system, and shapes how we see the world, others, and ourselves.

It can look like:

Always being on edge, even when things are “fine.”

Shutting down emotionally when things get hard.

Difficulty trusting others—or yourself.

Feeling broken, like you’ll never be the same.

In 2011, after years of surviving domestic abuse, I was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress. At the time, I didn’t know what it meant. I just knew I couldn’t sleep. I couldn’t relax. I couldn’t feel safe, even in quiet rooms.

That diagnosis was painful—but it was also a turning point. It gave a name to the chaos I’d been carrying, and it helped me begin the long journey back to myself.

Healing didn’t happen overnight. It was messy. It took years of peeling back layers, reconnecting with my body, grieving the past, and building a new future. But every step brought me closer to wholeness—and to the work I do today.

Now, I help others untangle their trauma at the root. Not just through talk—but through deep, body-based work that honours every part of your story.

Because post-traumatic stress doesn't mean you're broken.
It means you've been through something your system wasn’t designed to handle alone.
And healing is possible.

This month, I want to honour the courage it takes to keep going. To look inward. To seek help.

If you’re navigating the impact of trauma—whether it was years ago or still unfolding—I see you. And you are not alone.

🧠💗 This June, let’s raise awareness. Let’s speak the truth.

Trauma can break us open—but healing can rebuild us stronger, softer, and wiser than before.

If you're ready to begin that journey, I invite you to reach out or book a free Connection Call at rhodestowellness.com. You deserve to feel whole. 💛

With warmth,

Janet 🦋

Today is Red Dress Day.

We honour and remember the missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, and Two-Spirit people across Canada.

At DASH, we stand in solidarity with Indigenous communities and acknowledge the systemic violence that continues to impact them.

Each red dress is a powerful symbol of a life stolen — a reminder that there is still so much work to do to ensure safety, justice, and healing for all.

We recommit to listening, learning, and advocating for change.
