Remember friends! Anyone with a heart condition and/or kidney disease/injury has a risk of developing pulmonary edema! A patient I had recently went from fine to total fluid overload within 5 minutes. It's a life threatening medical emergency and needs to be treated as quickly as possible. Prolonged oxygen depletion can cause permanent damage to the entire body, especially the brain.

Anyone of any age, healthy or not: if you aren't producing urine, you are feeling congested & short of breath, dizzy, sweaty, and your heart is doing something unusual, go the the ER. Anyone can injury a kidney, and kidney damage can lead to pulmonary edema as well.

Drink water, & don't hold your bladder.

Gentle reminder: FELLOW NURSES, THIS INCLUDES US. 🤣

🤣 well...

I hope your day is going great, but if it's not, just remember—everything passes. It may be a bad day but not a bad life.

Whether you're having a good or crappy day, I want you to know that we (yes, the royal 'we') care and think you're amazing. I mean, you're still reading this post, and that says a lot!

One of the goals of The Barefoot Nurse is to offer a little distraction, some magic, a little love, a bit of learning, or a sprinkle of humor into your day. I hope this post did just that.

Alright, you epic human, go crush the rest of your day—or grab a hug, or simply take a deep breath. The choice is yours.
Sending love to all of you.
