Sthira-sukham asanam (doing the pose with contentment and ease.) In Iyengar yoga we strive to find a way that we can do the pose in this manner. Blankets, props, straps, chairs may be required or not. The emphasis is on what does the body need to be able to hold some variation of the pose.

PRASARITA PADOTTANASANA is a standing forward bending asana and also an inversion.

Worthy of a long Sanskrit name it is complete back body opening which can be practiced in a variety of ways.

Add more spice with palms joined into namaskar pressing into the dorsal spine💥

Use a chair to stretch the arms up to crank open the armpit chest and lengthen the side ribs 🪑

Massive benefits are:
TONES the legs and abdominal organs.
CALMS the mind and relieves anxiety.
COUNTERS the negative effects of prolonged sitting.

It is one of the most complete asanas which can be done actively or restoratively.
