About 11 years ago Greg Millen who was a former NHL goalie and a broadcaster for 30 years came for a visit with Tyler after I had contacted him and told him that Tyler had brain cancer
Greg passed away today
Not only did he visit he spent at least 15 minutes talking to Tyler and he was so impressed with Tyler’s knowledge of the Kingston team and junior Hockey in general. He said to Tyler that Tyler should be up in the box broadcasting the game not him that night.
I will never forget how excited Tyler was when Greg said that to him

God bless Greg Millen

Quick post , the doctor called on Saturday and said things looked okay on the MRI .
No new lesions or areas of concern .
He said there’s other things we need to discuss in a few weeks when we meet in person . But this is good news .

Wow , it has been so long since I tylers mom have updated his site.
I think we can all agree that covid has made times difficult and such a challenge. We pray that your family and friends are staying safe and healthy during this time. We hope that things get back to normal soon.
Now about Tyler . He has grown into such a respectful, kind hearted , all around amazing young man. Despite all his challenges he still remains positive and hopeful.
We have been struggling since covid to get seen by a doctor . Since moving to Toronto we were always in a red zone this making it impossible to be seen at any doctors in person as we lived in a high risk area ( despite our area being safe and one of the lowest in the city).
When contacting doctors I felt as though I was being pushed from one doctor to the other to receive the care Tyler deserves and so very well needs . I waited months for him to have a phone call doctors appointment , however with the issues and changes I have seen with Tyler they couldn’t adequately be assessed. This put stress on all of us.
I decided the best option would be for Tyler to switch doctors to my amazing new family doctor here in Toronto .
While switching came a new hurdle , because of covid and some receptionist working from home I was never able to get tylers chart switched/transferred resulting in it taking months .
Finally last month I got everything switched and taken care of and he had a phone appointment on the 28th of May.
With the changes I am seeing in Tyler such as his legs giving out randomly , him dropping items way more often , his balance being the worst it’s even been and his headaches more intense and often , both his family doctor and I decided the best routine is to have a mri ASAP !
Tyler is 16 now , so while speaking to his doctor I asked if we could get his mri done at an adult hospital and once the results are in we can make a collective decision on whether to send him to sick kids or to a neurologist at Mount Sinai hospital . I wouldn’t want Tyler to be seen for just a year , develop a relationship with a doctor and then once again be transferred to an adult clinic . We will decide once everything is said and done .
So today is scan day. We are staying positive and are so very blessed to have a new family doctor, who takes all my concerns about not only my kids but my own health seriously. I think the best choice I could have made for tylers complexed medical needs was moving to Toronto And switching medical professionals:).

I will try my best to update with results . It will take a bit of time to get everything done and such. As he doesn’t have a new team just yet however Dr Rez is on top of everything .

Have a great Wednesday . Send thoughts and prayers ,be positive and stay safe

With love - Danielle and Tyler

A little over 10 years ago his diagnosis was not promising and it didn’t look like he would see a 16th birthday!

I have posted some pictures from over the years — now that his family have been in Toronto for over a year and Covid, I haven’t seen him as much so not many newer pictures — Kevin

Nine years ago this weekend Tyler's mother heard those terrible words " your son has cancer "
One doctor predicted one year others were not as sure .
Normally I would have taken him to dinner today to celebrate his kicking cancers butt for 9 years but he lives in Toronto now so I will have to message him tonight
He says that having 1500 people on his page praying for him is why he is doing well and he says he is living into his 90's !

Thanks to everyone who have been so kind to Tyler and went out of their way to make him feel special .
