A tip for aspiring Āyurvedic Practitioners:

Have your own relationship with the Āyurvedic practices. 🤩
Do the things. Get to know the practices and the nuances of their results. It's not enough to know the theory of Āyurveda in your brain matter, you need to embody it! 🧠🙏

Here's why: When I talk to my clients about Āyurvedic practices - tongue scraping, dry brushing, body oiling, walking outside, connecting with nature, meal times, or something else - I share from my personal experience of these practices, what they do, how they help (results!), and potential challenges with implementation. ✅✅✅

This makes the practices real, lived, useful, and because someone else can do it, they realize that they can to. Medicine on multiple levels for our peeps - this is how we rock their worlds! 🎤 (mic drop) 😉

If I could give one piece of advice on feeling good, it’s would be this:

Keep things simple. 🙌

Simple is do-able.
Simple makes room for the things you want.
Most importantly…
Simple works.

Simplicity is a form of genius. 🤩

It’s not that you don’t know what to do to feel better. 🫨

It’s that perfectionism confuses us into believing that if it isn’t perfect we might as well not bother. 🤬

I’m here to say that perfection is the enemy of getting sh*t done… 🫢

and that all you have to do is take one step in the direction you want to move in. If you do this every day for the next 100 days, 100 steps takes you a ways down the road 🥾

*A book I found really helpful to wrap my mind around this is Brené Brown's Gifts of Imperfection 🙏

• Book love 📙
• Cuddle small domesticated carnivorous mammal 🐈
• Sleep like a rockstar 😴

In awe that I get to wash, rinse, and repeat again tomorrow 😍

Day 23 ( )

I’m recovering from being an anxious, seizure-prone, depleted, depressed, and catching-every-germ kind of human (*read "hot mess). 🤯

Here’s one thing I’ve learned:

If I don’t take charge of my health, no one else will. ⁉️

Eating real food + sleeping enough + pooping regularly + moving my body everyday + good friendships = feeling strong, healthy, and fit for public consumption. 🙌

If I can do it, you can too. You’re worth it. 🥰

COOL idea for an ANCIENT herbal formula… 🤔

Triphala, the McGuyver of Āyurvedic herbal formulas 😉

Often used for bowel health (which it is great for) and consider using it for oral health! 👅

Use triphala rinse/gargle for:

1️⃣ Getting rid of canker sores
2️⃣ Reducing inflammation of the oral tissues
3️⃣ Keeping the mouth clear of bacteria
4️⃣ Toughening you up (cause it does not taste like cherries) 😳

The best way to write a book is to document your work along the way. 🗒

I’m so happy that past me:

1️⃣Created handouts for students and clients.
2️⃣Sent newsletters with useful tips and tricks of my trade.
3️⃣Wrote blogs about topics that felt relevant.
4️⃣Washed, rinsed, and repeated steps 1 - 3 for many years (which if you know me - is my jam 🍓)!

From there, writing my books was about compiling my existing body of work, adding in the new bits and pieces (I'm always learning!), and updating it to my current perspective.

That’s how I wrote 2 books in one year 😍🙌

I started working for myself in 2004. (Cue Hazy Shade of Winter by the Bangles 😵‍💫 )

If I were to do it again, I would do it differently.

I would make sure that all the work is captured… not for posterity, but for re-purposing. 🤔

A solo-perineur is more likely to overschedule, overwork, overspend, and overeat mint chocolate ice cream with maraschino cherries and rainbow sprinkles with a side of gummy bears to self-soothe. 🍨

Instead of all these never-to-be-seen-again-powerful-experiences...

Every interaction I have with my peeps is filled with skill, compassion, wisdom, humour, and the genuine desire to support and help. By finding ways of capturing this, I can share more of what I do best, more easily, and with more people. 🥰

My big sparkly shift, is to work smarter, not harder.

In almost every instance, more is confused for better. 😵‍💫

But, Goldilocks rules. The right amount is healthiest. 😍

Three ideas for figuring out what is healthiest for YOU:

1. You have the answers (self-awareness). 🤗
Notice what actually works for you and creates the best post-śavāsana-clear-mind-strong-body-I-am-at-peace feel. 🧘

2. Walk the middle path (moderation). 🩴
You’ll notice when things swing too far one way because eventually you feel like a cat being rubbed from butt to head. 🐈

3. Zoom out to create space (perspective).
When we aim for the best, we zoom in, and with this microscopic view we miss the forest for the trees. 🌳 Remember health is a big picture concept. 🌏 It’s easy to confuse one piece for the whole schmuzzle puzzle 🧩 Zoom out to look at the big picture with all the pieces and see if the Mallrats sailboat (or something else) reveals itself . ⛵️

Next time you are tempted to lean into more is better, instead back up the truck friend… BEEP. BEEP. BEEP. 🛻
