We have big news!

After over 6 years, we will be undergoing some staffing changes. Our office manager Hannah will be leaving the office to attend the Bachelor's of Science in Nursing program at St.Lawrence College. We would like to welcome Janet to the team!

Hannah- I would like to thank all of our patients, and Julia, for a very wonderful 6 years. I have been very blessed to be fortunate enough to have gotten to know a great number of you quite well over the years. We have had quite a few adventures over the years and have made some amazing memories. I will take these with me as I tackle my next adventure! Although I will be leaving, I will remember you all quite fondly.

Summer is here and we want to keep your feet healthy! Here are just a few tips for summer time foot health.
1. Apply sunscreen to the tops of your feet, and avoid walking on hot surfaces.
2. Don't let foreign objects, sunburn, and fungal infections ruin your summer plans, wear shoes. While the idea of going barefoot sounds appealing, shoes can reduce the risk of injury.
3. Help prevent fungal infections by ensuring footwear is dry. Wear footwear when at public areas such as pools and splash pads.
4. Drink lots of water!

With the warmer weather brings increased activity. Be sure to check the inside of your shoes for wear including any ripped seams, pebbles, or holes. Check the outside of your shoes for any uneven wear, holes, and structural stability.

Sandals with a heel strap will provide the most stability while keeping your feet cool in the summer heat!

No-Show/Late arrival Policy
Due to an increased in no-show appointments, we have had to update our policy as follows;
Should you need to cancel or rescheduled an appointment please contact our office as soon as possible. While we do prefer 24-hour notice, a minimum of 3 hours will be required. This gives us time to schedule other patients who may be waiting for an appointment
Effective June 1, 2022

• Late arrivals may be required to reschedule their appointment or have their appointment time limited to the amount of time remaining in their original appointment slot. (If you are 5 minutes late for a 15-minute appointment, your appointment will be the remaining 10 minutes). Arriving halfway through your appointment will also be consider a ‘no-show’
• Any established patient who fails to show, or cancels/reschedules an appointment without adequate notice a second time will be charged the full price for the missed appointment. Fees will be collected at the next appointment, prior to being seen.
• Any established patient who fails to show, or cancels/reschedules an appointment without adequate notice a third time, will be discharged from the office.

We often get questions regarding lesser toe deformities and the difference in their presentation.

Claw toes, Hammer toes, and Mallet toes can often be found in the lesser digits. These can arise for a number of reasons including; genetic components, trauma, arthritis, and ill fitting footwear.

Claw Toes: Bend in the first joint and possibly the second and third joints.
Hammer Toes: Bend in the second joint of the toe
Mallet Toes: Bend in the third joint of the toe.

With the rising number of cases in the surrounding area we would like to take the time to remind all patients to screen before attending their appointment. This will avoid us having to turn you away when you arrive.
