I was updating our chronic vaginal microbiome dysfunction protocols today and came across something that stopped me in my tracks.
In 2017, an antiviral, microbiome-supportive condom was approved, designed to help reduce BV, chronic yeast, and even STI transmission.
And yet… how many of us are actually talking about this?
It’s wild.
Because we constantly hear: “There’s not enough research in women’s health.”
But the truth is, sometimes the research does exist. The solutions do exist.
They’re just not reaching clinicians. Not reaching patients. Not being integrated into care.
So then the question becomes…
Is it a research problem? Or is it a translation problem?
Is it a funding problem? A marketing problem? A clinical education gap?
Because imagine how different outcomes could be if:
– clinicians were trained on these tools
– patients actually knew their options
– research didn’t just sit in journals
This is exactly why we care so much about knowledge translation at Advanced Women’s Health.
Not just finding the research. But making sure it actually changes care.
Because women deserve access to what already exists.
