Parenting through focus, behaviour, or big emotions can feel overwhelming at times đź’ś

You’re not alone.

Many families come to us because they’re noticing challenges with focus, behaviour, sleep, or emotional regulation — and want to better understand what might be contributing and how to support their child in a meaningful way.

We’re hosting a free parent workshop to walk you through some of the common factors we look at in naturopathic care — including nutrition, sleep, gut health, and daily habits — and how these can influence your child’s overall well-being.

This session is designed to give you a clearer starting point, whether you’re simply looking to learn or considering more personalized support for your child.

You’ll learn:

• Why some children may experience challenges with focus and behaviour
• How the gut–brain connection can influence what you’re seeing
• The role of blood sugar in mood and attention
• Simple, practical ways to begin supporting your child day-to-day

When it comes to IV therapy, not all nutrients or approaches are the same.

Vitamin C is one of the most widely used nutrients in integrative care, especially during times when the body may benefit from additional support.

When administered intravenously, vitamin C can reach levels in the bloodstream that aren’t achievable through oral supplementation, which is why it may be considered in certain clinical contexts.

Depending on the individual, IV vitamin C may be used as part of a supportive care plan to:

✔️ Support immune function
✔️ Act as an antioxidant during periods of increased physical stress
✔️ Help maintain energy and overall well-being
✔️ Support recovery and resilience

At Natural Route Health, IV vitamin C is always approached thoughtfully and individually, following a comprehensive assessment and in alignment with your overall healthcare plan.

We also place a strong emphasis on quality and safety:

• Vitamin C sourced from tapioca (not corn, which is commonly used)
• Customized formulations (not pre-made bags)
• Proper storage of temperature-sensitive nutrients
• Medical-grade supplies and monitoring throughout
• Administered by IV-certified Naturopathic Doctors

In integrative cancer care settings, high-dose IV vitamin C has been studied for its potential pro-oxidant effects and selective activity on certain cancer cells, and may be used alongside conventional care as part of a coordinated, supportive approach.

If you’re curious whether IV nutrient therapy is appropriate for you, we’re here to help guide that conversation.

Thermography Niagara - Mobile Clinic at NRH!

Looking for another way to monitor your breast health?
Want to be proactive instead of reactive… and tired of the squish?

Thermography is a non-invasive, pain-free imaging method used to monitor breast health.

✨ No compression
✨ No radiation
✨ No contact
✨ No doctor referral required

Thermography uses infrared imaging to detect heat patterns on the body. Because abnormal or rapidly growing cells often require increased blood flow and metabolic activity, they may create subtle temperature changes that can be detected on the skin’s surface.

This technology measures the heat produced by microcirculation, providing another way to track changes in breast health over time.

âś” Suitable for all breast types and ages
âś” Excellent for those with breast implants or dense breast tissue

⚠️ Important: Thermography is not a replacement for mammograms. It is used as a complementary screening tool.

📍 Thermography is returning to Natural Route Health

When is IV Nutrient Therapy Actually Appropriate?

It’s a question we hear often — and the answer isn’t always the same for everyone. IV therapy isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach. At our clinic, it’s considered as part of a broader, individualized care plan, guided by clinical assessment.

In this post, we walk through:

• When IV therapy may be considered

• Why assessment matters before starting

• How nutrient support fits into a larger plan of care

If you’ve been curious about whether it’s the right fit for you, this is a great place to start.

"How Often Should I Come for Acupuncture?"

Great question! And a common one.

The answer is… it depends! (🙄We know, keep reading, we can get more specific ⤵️)

It depends what conditions you’re coming in with and what your goals are. Think of acupuncture like exercise or therapy, where consistency builds results. As a guideline:

🪄For new or acute issues, weekly sessions are encouraged (even 2x/week can be recommended).

🪄For chronic chronic, every 1–3 weeks may be ideal.

🪄And for prevention, stress management, or maintenance, once a month might be all you need.

Generally, we like to say come for 4-6 sessions then we reassess. Acupuncture is typically like training wheels - to help repattern the body, we start with a more condensed schedule and then space them out as time goes on to get you to the maintenance and prevention stage.

Our acupuncturist, Laura Burns, has some openings in her calendar now for new patients.

If you’ve been considering acupuncture as part of your health plan, you can give us a call or book online.

Are you thinking about your bone health early enough?

Most people reach their peak bone mass around age 30. After that, bone density and quality gradually decline — yet traditional bone scans are often not recommended until age 65.

That’s why we’re collaborating with OSTEOSOUND at Natural Route Health on March 25 for a REMS bone health screening clinic.

REMS (Radiofrequency Echographic Multi-Spectrometry) is an innovative, Health Canada–approved ultrasound technology that evaluates bone health without radiation and can be used as early as age 21.

What makes REMS different?
âś” Measures Bone Mineral Density (BMD)
âś” Evaluates bone quality with a Fragility Score
âś” Provides 5-year fracture risk assessment
âś” Immediate detailed results
âś” No physician referral required

You may benefit from earlier bone screening if you have:
• Perimenopause or menopause
• Family history of osteoporosis
• Low body weight
• Digestive conditions affecting nutrient absorption
• Past eating disorders
• Thyroid, liver, or kidney disease
• Long-term steroid use
• Low testosterone
• Certain medications or lifestyle factors

🌿 International Women’s Day

Today isn’t just about celebrating women.
It’s also about recognizing the invisible work women carry every day.

The mental load.
The caregiving.
The constant balancing of work, family, health, and expectations.

In clinic, we see this all the time.

Women who put themselves last.
Women who power through exhaustion.
Women who assume feeling “burnt out” is just part of life.

But your health matters too.

Your energy.
Your hormones.
Your sleep.
Your mental wellbeing.

Today can be a celebration — but it can also be a gentle reminder that you deserve support, care, and space for your own health.

To every woman doing more than anyone sees:
We see you. And we’re here for you. 💜

Food is more than fuel.

It can be comfort, distraction, celebration, protection — and sometimes the only way we’ve learned to cope.

At Natural Route Health, we’re opening up a compassionate conversation about emotional eating — especially for women navigating medical conditions where food choices can feel overwhelming or restrictive.

This isn’t about blame.
It’s not about “good” or “bad” foods.
And it’s not about ignoring medical needs.

It’s about:
✨ Healing your relationship with food
✨ Understanding emotional expression through food
✨ Seeing nourishment as support — not punishment

Join us for a gentle, insightful talk where we explore how our feelings show up in our eating patterns, and how we can build a healthier, more supportive relationship with food and ourselves.

You deserve nourishment — physically and emotionally. 🤍

Embracing Rest

Maybe the most radical form of self-love is regulating your nervous system. 🧠✨

When we live in a constant state of "fight or flight," our health, mood, and relationships take the hit. True healing starts when we stop fighting our biology and start listening to it.

Rest is not laziness. It’s recovery.

Saying no is not selfish. It’s a boundary.

Needing support is not weakness. It’s human.

If you’ve felt like your body is working against you lately, take a breath. It’s not an enemy; it’s asking for care. 💜

At NRH, we canhelp you move from survival mode back into a state of growth and repair.
